Well, maybe, I haven't seen that plugin for ages, I've lost it somewhere and then forgot about it.
Is it free now?

you can try few detuned saws with filter sweep with a bit of delay and lot of reverb and it should do the trick, what you can try is to add the effect before doing the sound on the synth , even a shit sound make good pads if you have a good setting on the verb . |

Ive used Bitmap Synthasis for my pads before, worked like a charm [look for 'beepmap' in fruityloops for an example] |

There are many different ways to create a pad. One thing you should keep in mind is the number of voices that will sound while the pad is being played. If it's too thick, there will be competition and it will not sound as large as you might want it to.
I usually use two oscillators and detune the second slightly to beef up the overall harmonics. I also find panning the voices adds more depth.
Once you're happy with the actual sound, then start applying reverb. LESS IS MORE. So proceed slowly.
Another way of making your pads sound larger or more dense is to double up the tracks and pan and effect them differently. The source sounds will remain the same but by adding some effects on one track and not the other, or different combo of both, you can create some rather nice soundscapes.
Don't be afraid to play around with the actual waveforms either. If you're going to detune to add harmonics, you can stick with sines but you can also create some really nice evolving pads with random waveforms; especially when modulating various elements of the pad.
Hope this helps.
Peace,
Jim |

i use 3 zta or vangruad usually.
creating pads is cool becuase they are undifined , any thing goes really
choose any style osc you want
make sure the amp has a medium to long attack
,decay and release
tweak the filter and make a good use of fx
i made a really cool one the other day using 2 noise osc pitched one down, the filter had medium cut and high res just enough res so that the q starts to oscilate on itself, but not to much. apply a distortion and turned it down a bit so it sits in the back of the mix and play a long note
ive also went a step further and made it a trippy lead by adding a trasher and a glich pattern. i dunno just a ramble |
