I have the korg padKontrol, I like it well enough. It's pretty solid. The pads are really nice, they have a nice range of response and they can be hit anywhere on the pad(not just the center). Also they light up which is cool as well

i got a padkontrol too..
it got a bit of rain and 3 pads wont work anymore, and 2 rows wont light (actually alot of it wont light anymore)...the malfunction pads are bad, but the lights not working i dont mind...they do get annoying after some time...
btw..
if you move with it alot, get a padkontrol, smaller, lighter.....if you're staying still get the akay, bigger, metal plate below, ALOT more controlling (faders, knobs)
i would've loved to buy a akai...but i move alot and it was simply too big and heavy to carry around alot...the padkontrol is better for that....looks more like a toy =p

I am seriously considering getting the Kaosspad 3
http://www.tomleemusic.ca/main/dj.cfm?details=1&id=151&inv=120242
Can record samples on the fly, loads samples over usb or on sd card. The touch pad is insane, and lights up all pixely where you touch it. Has midi in/out
It has a vocoder, a basic synthesizer, reverb, analogish filter (kinda), compressor, flange, phaser and a bunch of stuff I can't remember...
Tap Tempo, or midi clock, or beat detection from input source.. Check it out, it's awesome.

IMO kaosspad is more dj oriented, and less production based (and all those youtube kaosspad videos are actually quite boring)
and Elad, indeed it is godly for live...and i wanted it really bad...but then i went to the store, looked at both of them side by side, immagined my backpack and bought the padkontrol, it looks more dinamic for moving around, plus i always fear breaking a fader or something like that (and i hate having to roll it on a towel or something...takes up too much space)
plus the padkontrol has some cool tricks behind it, like the knobs assigment on 8 pads per scene (multiplied by 16 scenes) and the same for the finger pad which also works kinda nice on live too...

hmm so ill stay with the trigger if the akai is bigger hehe..
it does the job, only controling abelton live, but actualy i have it from the begining of the year, and recently 2 knobs stop working, and 3rd one is working bad, i gusse or poor m-audio crap quality of products, or too much dirth and dust and all that went inside in the partys and all..
