Yeah you should hear Hidria live, they are an amazing liveband! Theyre working on a new album at the moment, ive just heard half of the tracks but they sound absolutely stunning!

There will be a remix album of the old tracks pretty soon on Exogenic too, with remixes from Kiwa, Accu, Possible Apple and so on...

I did live sound for the Ozrics a few years back. Not the easiest gig of my life...

"Sploosh" is my favourite of theirs..

To correct the guy a few posts back - Merv Pepler was indeed their drummer. Joie Hinton [the other half of Eat Static] was their synth man.

I fookin' love the Ozrics!! They were the band that got me into all the non_sense in the first place

They have done so many cds, tapes, t-shirts, cereal packets and dish cloths that I've lost track of how many I own...

Favourite track? Impossible to answer, perhaps Eternal Wheel, or Yog-Bar-Og... Actually their last album is incredible, I really like the last 4 tracks especially. Oakum really sends shivers of shivers down my spine!            - - It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice... - -

blueorb, sorry I didn't recommend you a similar album to Arborescence ... Try the older albums such as Pungent Effulgent and Erpland for a more ethnic/psy rock trip, or maybe Jurrassic Shift as it was produced just after Arbor'... (wipes cobwebs in brain...) Pm me for more info if you want, I've got 'em all...            - - It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice... - -

...Eternal Wheel it's one of their best tunes for shure...and the remix Zion Train did for this tune is something out of this planet...
...Future Sound of London uses guitar samples from Ozric Tentacles 's album "Pungent Effulgent" ," in My Kingdom" Tune, released in "Dead cities" album... Ozric Tentacles is one of the most crutial bands in the english psychedelic rock scene ever, and has influenced most of the psychedelic vibes and beyond of today!

Being an obsessed Ozrics fan and been lurking on these boards for awhile, I'd thought I'd finally chime in and say that, yes, Ozrics are an amazing psychedelic band. I'm sure they've inspired a lot of the psychedelic music we hear today.

Question to the last post, can you name exactly what track on Pungent Effulgent that Future Sound took guitar samples from? Just curious.

Hellow MckennaDMT...Future Sound of London didn't mentioned exactly from wich tune they've took the guitar samples, as they only gave credits to the album in general, but i am almost shure it was taken from the beginning of the third tune named "Phalarn Dawn" on "Pungent Effulgent"...

Cheers!:good:

Oh yeah man! Good selections. Sultana Detrii, some of the smoothest basslines you'll ever hear. They just fit sounds together like a puzzle and it turns out to be the most beautiful thing you've ever heard. I don't think I dislike any of their songs.

Dug out some old tapes of The Ullulators yesterday, one of the many off-shoot bands from the Ozrics... Ah, nostalgia ... takes me back to the days of hippies living in the woods around Surrey and the 'crusty' era of the late 80's/ early 90's....! !

You may be very lucky to find the album 'Flaming Chaos' which was their only release on vinyl - a lovely blend of space rock and reggae, with the outer-atmosphere vibe of weirdness ever present thanks to Ozric member Joie on keyboards. A few of the members of the Ullulators would play with the Ozrics as well, and I think they actually played two gigs on the same night as Ozric Tentacles in two completely different locations! !

You get a real feeling of those times in their 6 original tape releases which I think you can still buy on cd, especially the live 'Ethereal Cereal' trip - which includes the Gong tribute 'Om rif'...

Worth a listen if you want to dive into the depths of the psychedelic sound.
