had a few listens, sounds quite nice actually - you can feel the difference from the old days with the original members such as Joie and Jumping John as alot of this is produced by Ed on his own in the studio with programmed drums and synths. I prefer the tracks to have a little less Van Halen guitar on them but some of the synth playing almost has the same effect at points. Another chapter in the long life of Ozric, just don't expect anything as magic as Erpland or Jurrasic Shift. |

good point, well its a bit of both, obviously there is the rock guitar but its not so in your face as some of the older releases. Much of the older stuff feels more 'live' I suppose, you can feel the difference now that Ed has produced much of this himself, though if you're an old fan it's interesting to see where the sound has gone. There are some choice electro chill moments , take 'Oolong oolong' for a ride up the esoteric escalator and a nice bit of mid tempo acid on 'plant Music' which shifts up into classic kaleidoscopic stuff towards the end. 'Nakaru' gently swings around in the breeze, with some really nice filtered synths. Closing track is more bass driven and ethereal with really nice trippy atmosphere, quite frantic and yet somehow silky smooth , peppered with more playful acicdic sounds. |
