Ozric Tentacles - Setup, Erpland, Music

Let's start with the good point of this night. Ozric Tentacles gave some blasting good music. They put on a lot of newer material, but didn't forget that some of their older stuff is still great.
The crowd was pretty wierd. Lots of 15-18 year old kids, and the rest were after the army... More or less. It was pretty crowded, but not too bad (I've been to worse acts in the non-party world).
Big problem A: Siwi (the keyboard player) had some problems with setting the sounds right, and even though his improv skills are good, it was sometimes off. Same with the guitar, to a much lesser extent.
Big problem B: Soundman ignored the flute. WHAT A WASTE. the flute work was great, but only rarely was it heard in the same volume as the rest of the band.
Big problem C: IT WAS TOO SHORT, a bit less than 2 hours. Left me (and a big chunk of the crowd) waiting for more.
Big problem D: You couldn't get water (or beer if you are an alcoholic, like so many of us in our darkest hours :)) if you were in the front rows or next to the stage (like I was).
Big problem E: I think I was the only one who knew Erpland was their second album. Or was I just the only one who knew English there? If you come to a concert, the least you can do is know the names and order of the albums... Not many BIG Ozric nuts were out there. That's a shame too.
The VJ (Video Jockey) was very agressive during the act... too much so IMO, but I'm sure not everyone agrees with me on that one.
Some people decided to stay until everyone clears the area, and then just hang around the place, hoping to get more of the band.
I just couldn't stay there anymore, so I went back home. Dissapointed from everything but the wonderful music. |

Hi Asaf and the rest of you.
Although i was pretty dissapoinmted ozric started earlier then planned (i arrived at 11:40 and they were already kickin' and they promised to go up at 12:00). The sound was outta beat at the first 30 minutes which annoyed me pretty much. The Music was pure gold, i didnt know most of the tracks played and i truely enjoyed the [MUSIC] but - the rest was awufful, too expensive, too short too many ppl very intense VJ, in the state of mind i was it was hard to stare at the screen more then 3 seconds, looked like a manga movie running at 3000 bpm.
To sum it all id say it was a big dissapointment because the orginaizers didnt give a minute to think about the setup assuming ozric will "save the day" and its a shame. Id love to see that show again in some other place where i could enjoy the atmosphere aswell.

hey.. :)
dammm... i had great time there.
sure there was problems... its a live act, there allways will be.
just think about it... if the soundman/drumer/keyboard player... come stoned 8) 2 the show... :), nothing works right
it happens... and u gotta understend it.

well, i dont know about you guys.. but i guess the second show is always far better.
crowd- most non-kids that had great vibing going on.the sound was excellent, he learned to give respect to the flue :-)
the band vibe was amazing and they said that they are very happy compared to last night.. all the people that went to both shows said in saturday they gave a totaly diferent show with better sound, better vibes, it was just pure beuty.
the vj sucks :-)

Kaz, i stayed about an hour after the show ended, then i had to drive back to kfar saba in the mad rain, dont ask ;) |

all i have to say is that i had one of the most amazing experience at that show....... violet vision were great in my opinion the d.j` who followed sucked ... he almost made me turn violent on him. despite the long wait for ozric to come on stage, once they did it was an almost 2 hours blast off....... y bitch so much ...... i think the crowd was great lots of preety faces lots of smiles ........ and i think the v.j did a great job. i had a great time and it wasn`t that hard to get a beer there.......
to sum it up except for that flute sound problem overall it was a great show and an amazing psychadelic act.......
stop bitching and look at the bright side of thing. u saw ozric give a hell of a show imo.....
so smile and stop bitching.
