http://www.novationmusic.com/product.asp?id=1&Type=1&bArchive=False

one thing realy bothers me:
44.1/48 Khz 24-bit simultaneous 2-channel audio I/O
why the hell it's not 96Khz?!?!?!
Is it realy that important

first of all you don't need 96khz
however,i use the x station and its the best keyborad for midi control you can conrol what ever you like + you have synthesizer + sound card

so my advice for you go for the X-Station

Don't buy m-audio (shit)

Noone can decide for you what you need or not. You need to have ability to record and reproduce high sample rate to have better quality. Just 96khz used for recording live instruments and not working with virtual or digital synthesizer. I'm not sure is it much difference by hearing between 96khz and 44.1khz but CPU overload for 96khz is much higher.

Simultaneous 2-channel means, stereo input/output.

Major difference in X-station over other good midi controllers is, it is best 3in1 combo available on market right now, it is best live performance kit, it's keys are semi weighted and it can control and store any virtual synth when it's opponents can't.

Sound quality it is case we shouldn't speak since i'm not sure any of us know what does it mean at all because none of us know what is A/D converters or other components of sound card. I'm sure in one thing, USB sound card is poor for studio compared to PCI also Novation and M-Audio not the leading brands of sound cards.

AviD has nothing to do with M-Audio quality. It doesn't mean that ProTools quality is the same as M-Audio, these two companies just have one big boss, AviD.

I just got my X-station yesterday. In the short time that I've spended with it, I find it to be everything I need to produce trance. I've tried the korg microcontrol and one of the edirol's but the novation beats them as surface control. the synth and the audio interface is a big bon for me. one thing about the audio interface, the X-station has build in DSP fx that you can use while recording or monitoring input (zero latency), the m-audio doesn't.           "a new art came into my mind which only you can create, the Art of Noises, the logical consequence of your marvelous innovations." i see on the site of novation that the usb port of the plaptop must provide enough power to run the x-station, otherwise you will need batteries.

anyone here has experiences about it?

if yes, could you tell us the models that provide enugh current and the models that don't and require battery alimentation for the x-station?

bye

the x-station got good sounds for morning music...

also i dont think you need 96khz
and 2 channel means 2 outputs on the soundcard

i dont use it as a soundcard so dont know about the USB.. but i dont think you should get more than 7ms          https://www.djjeto.com
