When making kick and bass itīs said itīs important that the notes donīt overlap eachother. But how about strings leads and other instruments ?
Is it the same rule here ?

Um.. every sound in your song overlaps. Sustained notes can play indefinitely. Listen to music and note how long some sounds stay playing. Music isn't one sound after another that never overlap.
The reason the kick and bass shouldn't play at the same time is because they are around the same frequency (low bass) and (put simply) it dilutes the definition. It's like 2 people talking at the same time.. its hard to follow a conversation and they interact badly- just one person talking and something different like a high-hat playing and you'll be able to hear each clearly.
Use an analyser to note where fundamental frequencys occur and choose sounds that don't overlap.
EQ cuts frequencys and is useful for blending, but don't rely on it for fitting things together - choosing sounds is an art in itself and takes time to learn.
Panning similar sounds away from each other and mix volume is equally important and will take time to understand.

I dont see a reason why shouldnt you overlap kick and bass.. In some cases in fact thats really good.. Its awesome to hear compressed sub bass with the kick at the same time..
Although of course, in most of the cases u want to separate these two.. Arrangement with as little as possible overlapping sounds is much cleaner and easier for ear, its easier to concentrate, otherwise u get whats usually known as mush.. A soup where every sound is fighting each other.. There are many ways of getinn clean and mean sound like some stated above but thats a long topic..
If u have to many overlapping notes that start in the same time you could have problems with your sound card too..

Right.

Overlapping is okay until they sound good together. Moreover overlapping often sounds richer and brighter with strings or gives deeper atmosphere with pads for example.

Never heard of such rule.

As to hihats - sometimes overlapping hihats and hihats that hit in the same moment can cause flange-like effect. To avoid this:
1. use differently sounding perc sounds
2. make clever percussion schemes - avoid overlapping, make hihats longer or shorter.
3. use equalizer to make each hihat sit in its own place in the freaquency range.
These are basic tips.
