Braincell's album would impress me a lot more if the percussion wasn't copy-paste the entire album all the way through. Seriously, very lazy, unpsychedelic and imo very sad considering how great the rest of the album is.
I really like ralph's projects but it kind of feels like he's not moving anywhere new and is just repeating the same thing :\ If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

well i don't try to hear it producing wise...
simply if an album has in all its tracks something big and different gets awsome...now if the ophats and snares are same doesen't have so much effect to listening or to dancefloors imo...anyway,kind of tastes! |

Sure, it's about taste...and sure, people will dance to pretty much anything when they're on acid (well, at least, I do...) but...
it's the same percussion. nearly every time. formulaic. Considering what a great synth programmer and song writer ralph is it is dissapointing to me to hear this time and time again - it's the same exact open hat and snare sound and the same exact pattern that's been present in psy/goa since the mid 90s! fuck! Certainly though, I have a lower threshold for being annoyed by this than a lot of people I meet.
And I don't understand your comment about open hats and snares not having an effect on the listening? I listen..I hear stale percussion...it steals focus away from the rest of the track that's so good because the same percs are placed at the front of the mix every time and they don't change. Percs can be really, really trippy...
But yes, taste is taste is taste

^not anything whith acid...a trippy dancer requires...i 'm sure we agree in this(well it's another conversation)
and i agree whith you about variety in sounds,it's respectable.but i believe braincell wanted to make this album whithout tuning diffferent drums but focusing on the trip...synths sounds flow...ofcourse it's not a plus but the result is really nice especially if we consider other releases in psytrance!(for albums cause epz were really up this year) |
