Delicious music. Can you tell me how you make your bass lines? Is it a VST or recorded live?
Your bass and drums sound like a live band. Awesome.

i'd say the usual stuff:
the bass sounds i use are usually my own tweaks on hardware synths. then i play around on the keybooard while recording midi non-stop. the pitch bend wheel/stick is great as you get to slip and slide from note to note. then i choose the best bass line versions and finally correct and vary the bass line on the sequencer. after that i may record some additional tweaks and change the groove. if you use a quality amp simulator efx it can do wonders too. i haven't used a real bass guitar yet but i have been thinking for a long time of getting together with someone who can play upright bass and e-bass and then sample the hell out of it i've also always wanted to play bass myself. perhaps one day...
the drums on the other hand are usually a blend between something i put together from different percussion samples on the sequencer, something i record live when playing percussion samples on my handsonic and sampled drum loops that i manipulate, chop up and re-arrange manually.

Wow, thanks! So much respect for your meticulous care. Pretty amazing all the attention you put into it so hope you know how much it's appreciated. Having played guitar and bass for years it's so rad to hear true sounding instruments in this music. You have a really good ear for what the instruments actually sound like and I can't wait to hear what you do with stand up bass samples. Maybe get together with the guys from Fat Beat Sound System

Outolintu – Boings & Tickles

01 - Private Tickle (112 BPM)
02 - Human Boing (80 BPM)
03 - Human Boing (Skomm's Hiyaaa.. Boing!! Remix) (79 BPM)
04 - Private Tickle (Rip Van Hippy's Tickle Train Remix) (112 BPM)

Boings & Tickles is a whimsical and playful collection of downtempo songs by Outolintu (Jürgen Sachau), a veteran of electronic music production in Finland and a founding member of Haltya. A pair of remixes by Rip Van Hippy and Skomm maintain the quirky, experimental, genre-defying vibe of the release while taking the originals in distinctly new directions. Expect to hear a bewildering medley of funky broken beat rhythms, jazzy themes, and peculiar sound effects. This sampler also contains the original 2005 version of Human Boing, a song that was later remixed and released on Odd Man Out, Outolintu’s full-length debut from 2007. Mastered by Tommi Sirkiä at Planetaria Studio with cover art by Arno van Oordt

+1

Really digging Private Tickle and mellow side of Rip Van Hippy in the remix. Beautiful work!

a blast from the past:

Highpersonic Whomen was founded in 2001 by Justin Space AKA Tommi Sirkiä (Haltya, Headphonics) and Frank Further AKA Jürgen Sachau (Haltya, Outolintu) to provide an outlet for their experiments in fusing clean and approachable progressive trance music with psychedelic undercurrents to form a “psygressive” hybrid sound. The result was Alternative Energysource, their full-length debut album on Thirteen Productions, in late 2002. Since then, it has garnered considerable critical acclaim and many listeners identify it as one of the best progressive psytrance releases of the new millennium. In 2004 the group experienced changes as Jürgen concentrated on other projects and Make Louhio (Kiwa, Headphonics) joined in. After being remastered in 2010 this classic work of Finnish electronic music is now available for free download and enjoyment by all. New artwork by Alexander Synaptic; jellyfish photos by fPat. Special thanks to Peter Gerkman for making this re-release possible!
