Outdoor Chill Scene

So, those of us who've partied in the wild jungles of the Indian terrain, especially not so far from our urban dwellings, know that the psy scene and it's outdoor festivities brings upon itself a myriad of controversies ranging from legality, to morality, to insanity and so on an so forth.

I was wondering whether a shift in the music would lead to any changes in these negative perceptions. For example, outdoor parties that only play chill / ambient music.

Would we be perceived as any less strange by the locals who witness us? Would any authorities that find their way into our temple be a bit more lenient with their frowns?

Would the kind of devotees be limited only to those who can't be arsed to party to the latest killlllarrrr foot stomping ear pounding music?

Can we create something where we just get together, meet each other, talk, relax, and devise a plan to escape to the next super festival around the world as a group of hungry dancers, or not even, but just as a way to keep in touch, and see each other every so often, without having to pay 500 rupees for a drink, or appear as a social outcast in the plasticized version of a tribe we call society.

Anyway, that's just my thought for this fuckin' moment.

Well, there's only one way to find out!

That said, I think it's an idea worth trying out ...

Nice idea

One thing I've noticed about psychill is that it's hard to mobilize people under the genre banner... and that's weird because it's probably the most listener friendly and widespread sound to come out from the psychedelic trance scene.

As Mumukshu said, it's an idea worth trying. We had a discussion going once in the Ambient section about doing a chillout festival/gathering here. Start with when and where, there should be quite a few here to support it.

Location of the party would also help to make this party a great success. Great music with a great scenic location wow.           Mushrooms make you do crazy stuff. Look at Mario he jumps on animal heads and fights with dragons.
