The most important part for me is that I enjoy what I'm doing and feel good about it. Many people are getting upset about some calling what you do something else, in all honesty it doesn't matter unless you think there is something wrong with it yourself.

Well this is a quite healthy attitude and clear thinking. Everything that upsets us comes from within. Nobody can insult or upset me if I don't have personal doubts on the subject. Since most of us engage in denial in order to maintain the certain perception it's quite easy to upset people.

i actually can't possibly disagree with this more. Everything is not art, most people are not artist, everything in this world is as real as it is ever going to get so it makes no sense to say its an illusion.
To me the entire concept of "art" should be tossed in the trash. Its poisoned by this line of thinking. Its what leads to "experimental art" music that is nothing but pure noise. It leads to experimental painting that is literally shit(or some other body fluid) on a canvas.
There is good creative painting and good creative music. There is good lesser creative painting and music of someone doing something that has already been done but in a more refined or greater context.
"Art" in the modern sense though has evolved to mean hiding behind some philosophical nonsense outside the medium to cloak the fact you can't make either of the above. |

@Heretical
Well, we are creators who all create out of the joy (and ofcourse that we dont know what else to do). You create your own reality, just like a painter paints on his canvas.
Through an egoic perception it is easy to classify things. But all the classifications of stuff we do is merely our own form of organizing. We add an energy to what is already there.
So without an ego (or the memory of it), you wouldnt be able to distinguish between anything, you would purely be an observer. And what you would observe, is the reality as you percieve it without adding anything to it. All would just be.
Im not saying this world isnt real. Im just saying that whatever we add to things (classifying something as something, wich the ego does, for ex. through language)
But ofcourse, I have no proof for what I say, in an infinite universe everything is and is not, at the same time. We live in a paradox!
Lotsa love!

Fraggletrollet - if you define something to mean anything then u have defined a useless concept.
great art is art, crap art is not art. Just because some uninformed loser states or thinks that something is art does not degrade what "art" is to his level of ignorance. What he is trying to do is redefine the concept of art so it includes his own crappy version, not realising that he is actually changing the word's meaning only and not the referent. its called pretending and is the root of pretentiousness.
Just coz something is "called" or pretends to be art does not make it art.
In the same vein, hippies have this problem with thinking that every retards point of view is important. It isnt.
Just coz ONE person disagrees with a theory doesnt mean their point of view is informed, valid or consistent, it does not mean that their point of view is a real challenge if it does not have serious objective backing, and doesnt automatically detract from that original theory.
It certainly does not mean that if there is controversy from a specious source then the original theory is successfully contested.
There are people in the world who achieve, and those that pretend to, its important to tell the difference between someone who thinks critically and a moron steeped in mysticism. And the earlier in life u do this the more pain and effort u can save yourself. |

Now let's be honest... you're bluffing, right?
Both you and I know that as well any other person who ever heard of Noam Chomsky, Marshal McLuhan, Erich Fromm, Friedrich Nietzche, Hegel, Kant etc. I'm not into any spirituality... in fact, I find that guru stuff annoying equally as any other form of organized religion or system of belief.
Everything I say is from a philosophical viewpoint... but since you didn't read any of those (nor philosophy nor spirituality) it's no wonder why you can't distinguish them.
Nice try thou... urging me to say something new while you're saying that having racism and stealing for profit are natural way of living justified by evolution. Considering your "philosophy" you are the last person on this forum entitled to ask for "originality" of statements since your own are as conservative as they can be and so obsolete that there is no book less than 100 years old promoting your point of view. In other words even cheap new age spirituality is original and novel compared with your viewpoint.
You're just an ignorant kid desperately seeking attention and approval from society while treating it as parasites treat their host. You would like to be famous and make art while living on the expense of others by stealing their land and denying them basic human rights. And like that alone is not enough, on the top of all that you dare to call them:
"dudes who dont know how to make anything of value, and prefer to spend time making poverty stricken children"
How original is that... or should I say ignorant?
Kid... you're a insult for the human race... you're evolutionary waste and I feel truly sorry for you. Do your self a favor and don't engage in this kind of conversation with me unless you wish to psychoanalyze your self publicly. I surely don't mind doing that... in fact I'll be glad to do that for you
Is this original enough for you or should I try harder?

Everybody makes the decision for them self. You get to decide for your self... there's no authority on art (there's no authority at all as a matter of fact). What you consider to be art is what art is for you... right?
