out of curiousity, How many of you guys make a good living with music alone? I usually make all my income with my graphic design, with some lil spare cash in studio, would i have to become a dj if i wanna head into a direction where im just making money off music, will that alone be good also i would think that the location where i live will also entitle how much money i make, any good suggestions of good countries to live where getting gigs would be easier, and more chances of this dream to be fulfill or will i be stuck in the boondocks of isolation here in homestead florida

ive thought of moving to new zealand even though id be far from my loved ones hard decisions....

any feedback or anyone in the same shoes feel free to express ya selves, boom

i think that's your answer

i don't think there are that many psytrance producers who make their living from it alone; some people combine production with engineering, recording, mixing, remixing, mastering, tutoring etc... and there are some who have made it their primary or even sole income.

So true, as for me studying at the university. one live-performace equals 50% of the money i get from the government for studying. It helps alot =)           Demand recognition for the Armenian genocide 1915

I combine doing my own music and DJing with teaching music technology, both in schools and privately, and mastering... so yeah, I'd say that music makes my whole income, in a way, although it's the teaching that actually pays my rent and bills most of the time.

I make my living only from music... Gigs on psy parties but also commercial music production in my own studio.
In the last two years since my album was released, i can say, most of the money i made from gigs and not from studio anymore. I don't have so much time for working in studio at this moment. I have at least 2-3 gigs every month, so i am most of the time left from home. I had also a job as music teacher on high school in the past but i had to quit because of no time.

I can not say i make lots of money, but i think it's good enough to pay my bills, make a decent living, and why not, to invest in some new equipment.
Maybe, because i was born in an ex-comunist country i have learned to make a decent living without spending money on ussless stuff. Maybe that's the trick... I dunno...
I forgot to mention that i don't use drugs and i don't smoke or drink (just on occasions). That is important because it may cost you a lot of money.

So, if a romanian or bulgarian (for example), can survive with only 200-300 Euro per month, when all the prices are the same as in E.U, how can i complain with more than 1500 Euro income per month ???

I think the situation is not as bad in psy trance scene as it looks, maybe only for beginners, or "wanna be artist"... Of course, it depends of the artist, the music style, quality of music you make, promotion etc...

So my advice for the young artists who wanna make a living from music is :
If you wanna make a living from music, you must chose the hard way... So, take the "red pill", stay in wonderland , and focuse on the music... forget about anything else.
If you wanna make music just for fun, you can do it, but take the "blue pill", the story ends.... you may go find a job, and forget about money from music.

          NEW ALBUM OUT SOON !!!

Well... some of us eat to live... and I guess some live to eat. I'd rather live a short life doing the thing i love to do than live a long life doing what it takes to be able to eat. What's life really all about... eating or loving and having fun? Is it about who will have more time living or who will have better time living?

It's a kind of philosophical question for some people... I find it to be more practical than philosophical           "It occurred to me by intuition, and music was the driving force behind that intuition. My discovery was the result of musical perception"

I quit my job back at the end of 2005 to go touring and whatnot. It doesn't pay the bills. Never has, and to a certain extent has left me homeless and/or owing friends money for letting me stay with them. It still doesn't deter me from making music, and sometimes (like now) I temp just to earn some extra cash when things are at a lull. For me the biggest perks about doing music full time is the travel. Before January of 2006, I had only visited 4 states in the US and had never been out of the country. Even when I was working full time, I wouldn't have been able to afford a holiday in Europe. So on one aspect, I'm getting to live my dream of travel, and that brings a big smile to my face... I also firmly believe that sometimes we do what we have to do, to do what we want to do. Though if it weren't for having a good support group here in the US, and abroad, I'm sure I would've starved to death or something by now. So can I survive on music alone, sure with a little help from my friends... Can I make a good living this way? Probably not, but if I had to make music that doesn't do anything for me spiritually just to be financially secure, I'd probably be an empty shell of a person anyway... (Which also explains why I haven't started making rap music)           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

That's the strange thing about art: you generally make more money by teaching it than by doing it.
