It would be interesting to hear our local d.j's point of view.
So far, the only one that responded to this thread are "party people".

You're so right Eli, I've noticed that too a long time ago.
They never go to parties unless they play there, and after they finish playing, they just stare at the crowd and the d.j set.
But maybe it's cause they were formally "party people", and it's their job to be and play at parties. So maybe they are just fed up with it.
You know, when you make out of a pleasure a business, you want some time off from it.

I just want to mention that in New Years Eve in Salonika (World Trance Festival) Dj Skazi and the Xenomoprh guy were dancing with us.... Great time...
while Sam(Acidance)played...
In Greece we talk a lot with Djs , i believe sometimes they artists are a bit shy but after some screaming ,talking, smile,They switch on!!!
Talk with the Guys!SCREAM!  wooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

Well, i can only tell, that from my "not so long" experience, every time i go 2 a party with foreign artists, i c that they dont come just 2 play, they r having fun..
4 example, i remember playing in a party last october, and after i played christof came up (he gave an amazing set btw), and on his 3 hour set he just never stopped "eating" "stuff", and on the next DJ set he just exploded on the Dance floor, it was so fucking funny!!!!
hhehe

Never thought about this subject.  But here's my dime:
I think it's a more general issue then DJs and party people.  Israelis try to create a barrier that will differentiate them from the others, and so when a person thinks he's a DJ, he finds it hard to stay in part a party person.  Think about an Israeli abroad - he is firstly an Israeli and only secondly a person, while it shouldn't be like that.  All men (and women) were created equal.
It's kind of "there's us and there's them" thing, when actually there's only us.  Some may be the leaders (i.e. the DJs) and some may be the followers (i.e. the party people), but when a DJ leaves the stage he's just a follower of another leader.
Maybe it's a concept that's a bit vague, but that's how I see it.

I noticed this to it's harshest extreme in the Hallucinogen live act @ the octopus - where there were so many people there from all around the Israeli scene, artists, DJs, whatever. And they crowded the sitting places, while everyone that danced was flying. I mean if you like listening to the music but not dancing to it, you'll probably enjoy quality ambient even more... and then the question rises "what are you doing in the wrong scene?" - I mean - you want music only for the mind and not the body, you really don't need that droning bassdrum/bassline, and you really are missing the point.

I saw Duvdev dancing and having a good time in Canada, and erez was looking kind of bored.
But I agree 100% that it is much nicer to see a DJ enjoying himself while playing, and not sitting there looking like a rock.

Zombi: Well, I was snowboarding in France, and I really didn't feel like logging on the internet from there :)... And I think I'll adopt "The Smartass One" as a nickname :)

after a long time 'behind the scenes', when you get to hear so much music as a profession, when you've been to so many parties that are the same (yes, Zombi, all Israeli parties are the same, believe me - same music, same ppl) - what do you expect? you get bored, man. the music? you heard most of it already, since you are a DJ. The ppl? you dont know anyone since you only came to play, through some party promoter that contacted you on the phone. add to that the fact that many DJs dont do massive drugs (again, only in Israel), and you can understand the picture.
its not about pose (and I'm sure that anyone who know me will vouch), many DJs are simply there to work, get the money, and go home. nothing wrong with that, right? I'm personaly bored to come and spend 10-12 hours in a forest somewhere. I'd rather come focused, do what I'm payed to do as best as I can and go home to my family.

besides, as ppl already said here, dont spend time or attention on what this or that DJ is doing - if the DJ is good, what do you care?

i dont think much dj's was at so many partys i was in my life.. israel,german,portugal,hungary.. everywhere...
so, if i get bored i just dont come to party..
u bored of music ?? so how can u love and play it ??
in global i agree with u kshisha...
im not care, i just think its one of the reasons our local dj's so weak and dont have this fire in eyes and ears while they play..
if a dj good i dont care..
if local dj's were good i wasnt ask the question..
sign that my view on them not so positive..
i look for a problemm why we gonna be outsider (in the music perpective) country..
spend too much hours in forests while u have kid at home - i respect this kind of thoughts... no problemm with it...
but why (and u agree with me) our partys all the same and music the same also...
isnt it becoze the dj's play same music ??
isnt it becoze good ppl dont want to hear about trance ?? (as most of my dear friends that went to their last party as 2-3 years ago)...

and why "there outside" the things differents ??
thats the point i look the answer for ?? understand ??
i realy think about it.. its in our hands make our scene as "there".. show everybody (and mainly to ourselfs) that we are not just satlanim,as we more than it and deserve to call ourself leading trance country again..
i look for a points that make our partys same and give our dj's the bored vibe becoze as i wrote before Antaro and Raja at their 60+ age not bored of music (and im sure they hear a litlle also), why ??
