at earthdance in SA they had a world dance stage which featured everything from breaks to prog house and seemed to be quite a success
what are your feelings on this ?

A few weeks ago I was at Mirnaya, where they had a trance stage as well as a chill/breaks stage. I liked the fact that the music in the chill area was more upbeat during the night, and quite a few live performances too. I think that some breaks sound close enough to chill to fit well, or is it that chill sounds like breaks?
Although, if the styles branch out too much, IE a techno dj right after a chill dj followed by a hardcore dj thats a little too much culture-clash. IMO if the styles flow together, to me it doesnt matter what styles they happen to be.

I get bored with just a trance & chillout stage for 3/5 days - I much prefer a few other stages as well with different sorts of music |

well i wasnt thinking diffrent music on the same stage but more diffrent music on diffrent stages/rooms
i also get a little bored with the same music the whole night thats why its nice to have abit of variety but some of the people i sppoke to didnt agree with the fact that i thought some variety would be a good idea

i recently went to a festival that had a fantastic chill out ambient stage.......and a forest stage that was comprised of various styles of music......ranging from a psychedelic, experimental dub styles to psychedelic electro rock.......
to my surprise........it was really good.........one of the groups that i saw play live.........which i thought was fantastic.........was 'HEAVY WEIGHT DUB CHAMPIONS'........3 dudes and a chick i believe......
2 guys in the back 'jammin' with the synths and shits on the stage......very 'trippy' and 'psychedelic' sounding back ground sounds......1 dude 'rappin' some really nice lyrics....and a chick that would add in some vocals..........i was very impressed........as were many others..........i could see it in their faces.........
so.......i saw that this mix of music........in one festival or event........could work........and did.........and i wouldnt mind seeing it more in other future events..........

this year at fusion festival i had one of the most intensive dancing experiences of my life. it was simple ASSKICKING drum n bass (supported by a mc on the mic)

psychedelic trance
goa
psychedelic dub
gothic
breaks
big beatz
dŽnŽb & jungle
indian raga
experimental fusion
atmospheric/ cinematic tech trance
but the main objective of all those genres, the COMMON DENOMINATOR has to be PSYCHEDELIC!!! |

i think it depends on the concept of the party.
some times
party producers and artist should be more flexibles and mix watever that could fit...
i think this would take a nice course in the escene MORE EXPERIMENTATION.
i would like to hear psychedelic rock in party i think it would be really cool.
