For a long time I've waited for a good melodic psytrance album, and now it's finally here - the debut album from Oszilla aka Andreas Weber.

The album is a progressive masterpiece, with a lot of trance-like melodies. Some might call them cheesy - I call it marvelous.

My personal highlights are:

"Return To Neverland". Probably one of the darkest tracks on the CD. Not that it's dark though, it's just not as uplifting as the rest of the tracks. The beat is somewhat similar to some of the stuff on Vaishiyas' album, but with some awesome melodies. This is a really nice dancefloor filler.

"Inside A Computer Program". Take some overused samples from "The Matrix", a sweet little melody, and some excellent production and you have this track. A nice, groovy, chilled track for the morning hours.

"Ready To Flow" - my favourite track on the album, and the title fits perfectly. This is also a mindblowing track for the morning hours, although not as melodic as the rest of the tracks.

I can't name a single bad track on this album, although I was somewhat disappointed that the "Indiana Jones" theme was removed from the Prototyp remix of "Liquid Skunk"

My verdict: 8.5/10

Tracklist:

01. Taran Und Der Zauberkessel
02. Shadows Over Me!
03. Return To Neverland
04. Die Hexen
05. Galactic Core
06. Inside A Computer Program
07. Big Insect
08. Ready To Flow
09. Liquid Skunk (Prototyp Remix)
10. Chillin' In The Sun

yep, a nice melodic stuff, blend of progressive groovey beats and Goa melodies, in best Insolation records traditions, in fact they changed name to Psylation records (or something like this, i dont have a cd here). nice morning trance, a kind that i die to hear at parties here in Israel, realy spirtual melodic music, with no many innovation but with right spirit.
u sure will like Dimension 4 album also, same nostalgic Goa vibe in high quality production.           Believe your soul !

This is an Awesome Release !

Its a nice suprise album ( the best i have heard so far in 2003), that blends lots of different sounds , styles , layers . The artist uses nice heavy kicks with amazing basslines. These basslines are not the kind soft u get from other proggy stuff but remind the heavy techy ones. On the same time the rolling melody of the bass its close to progy , very rhythmistic , variates in the exact proper time and balances in one rhythm when needed..

What we got so far is excellent bass, kick , and percussions ( heavy clear snares in most tracks with nice clean high hats, not the usual phat disturbing hats..)
And the next sounds we get , come from some nice layer filled with GREAT MELODIES !!! Nice catchy melodies contain a dreamy effect for your mind, not irrititating , no boring , always give a little more as the melody keeps growing and finaly builds to a MASSIVE one !!!

and a special feature: you can always in each track spot some dark layer here and there which makes the trip even more interesting than the usual monotonous stuff which is either dark or light...

Best Tracks :
1) Shadows Over Me! Amazingly uplifting, atmospheric and not at all cheesy..

2) Return to Wonderland : Its dark or itsnt? a bit uplifting , a nice blend in all kinds of emotions ..

3) Die Hexen : Ya das ist GUT!!! The most rhythmistic track on the album , not so melodic but the track keeps you on the move with this Massive bassline and the perfect percussions.

4) Big Insect : Soft melodies, easy going , but extremely addictive... i never get bored to these nicely done soft synth sound! very uplfiting!!!

Whatever style you are into , you need to listen to OSZILLA!!

- I call it marvelous - TRUE !

yep, its just rare realy trance spirit full of music. again, as all previous Insolation releases, this label somehow always out of attention, but have prety long list of releases that concentrate on this simple and nice proogy Goa cheasey morning music. i like it.
btw - they just released double compilation "psychedelic home listening" and its very nice cds full of 120-126 bpm slow melodic goa trance, just exactly what u want to hear hour before good open air           Believe your soul !

This one came up in my search just now and I realized that not only had I not reviewed it, but that there were few reviews of it at all... imho this is one of the softspoken sleepers of the last year, an enjoyable progressive-psychedelic album from start to finish with plenty of germanic-epic overtones. My favourite would be Return to Neverland, a very gorgeous dark melodic track that shines at all the right moments... Shadows over Me! has some cool chord progressiion, and I enjoy the deep rumblings of Galactic Core. Ready to Flow is an easygoing beach-friendly groover and I've found Die Hexen hits a dark note on the progressive spectrum next to IFB and Etnoscope. Overall a great variety and cool sound is offered here - the album seems to be overlooked so I wrote up this quick assessment here... hope some people go back and check it out
peace.
