Read “Ishmael”…
Why not “20000 Leagues Under the Sea” or “Utopia”?

Ive often wondered how one could go about reproducing the precisely metered percussion and bass of psytrance using non-electrical means. I think of Charles Babbage and his gear driven computers, and player pianos, and the like. Put em together we can DIY a crank, steam, or whatever driven, clockwork instrument that can achieve the same effect as computer-sequenced music. I have hope but the right amount of fatalism too           .

javanese and balanese gamelan orchestras do extremely long, slowly modulated tempo changes through out a piece in perfect synchronicity.
humans are capable of amazing musical feats.
i think we can maybe perform some 135 bpm trance.
we'll have relief pitchers for CHH and bassline.

I used to compose all the parts for the drum line / mallet instruments in the high school marching band half time show for my school, and when i graduated, i did this for a handful of other schools in the North Georgia area, and I was able to experiment with 150 bpm drum and bassy style jungle breaks..i KNOW for a fact that the drum line / mallet instruments (vibes, xlyophone, marimba ) etc etc could make a pretty melodic or creepy 15 minute production. It would be sweet to go back to my high school and ask the drumline if they are willing to participate in an experiment!            WARNING: The Reality Master General has determined that Mr. Vomit may significantly alter your reality. Orbital- The Girl With the Sun in Her Head (first track off of "In Sides")... track produced entirely with alternative energy if I do recall the liner notes correctly...
excellent album if you haven't heard it.

One of my first electronic albums I really got into, back in high school last century. Always loved it, especially the 18odd minute version of 'The Box' on the 2nd disc. I remember the liner notes talking about solar energy and a picture of a truck with big photovoltaics, or something... Its only been about 13 years since then... Orbital definitely helped put me on the road ive been on since and Ill always have a special spot in my heart for 'In Sides'.
