The time has come to count down the remaining 8 days till the beats are flowing and we are all dancing under the sun at Orb Festival. All the preparations are going great and according to plan. It is going to be an amazing gathering, celebrating together with the top psy trance/ progressive/ ambient artists from around the globe. Gong/singing bowls
10 Paiste planetary gongs, 24 Tibetan singing bowls, and a variety of other instruments including tings has, bells, dorjes, a rain stick, and a roto sound. The instruments are played lightly and carefully for the optimal experience of the person sitting in the chakra tuning chair. The experience lasts 3-5 minutes.

no sense in this line up at all. Two trance stages????Maya and orb stage??? Which is main stage??? Why there is no chill out stage??? Will be dark horror music at two stages at the same time as mention by Alakazam...... hmmmm. Knowing the organizers and their attitude something is not right. Im shure no thinkng was invloved in making this table. Seriously no chil out stage.(shit)....I HOPE all people and Djs and artists will get paid this year. Lets see who will show up this year.... Will be funny if no headlieners will come...
Aladin never change.....good luck to those who go///there ..try to get service u pay for so much money.

Hey guys, This is a rough Idea on the days that the artist will be playing...Also there will be chill-out sets!
Thanks Alakazam for bringing up this point we have switched Psyops and Unwashed Tomato who will play on Friday,
and Tony Unorthodox and Gavin will play on Saturday.
Also Sketi will play on Friday and Psyfi will play on Thursday.
All the international artists will be playing on the days that we have posted since they are schedule according to their arrivals.
To f.u.nabi.k please spear us the negativity, since we are gonna have the most amazing gathering which has been put together with a lot of love

This line-up is soo breath taking...Last two years were great but this year... it'll be amazing! Can't wait to see you all psyheads there dancing as one!! You know what they say...third time is the charm!!!

Firstly, much respect to Alladin for bringing a lot of awesome international talent to the NYC area and for being a constant force in the NYC psychedelic trance scene over the years.
Secondly, thank you for being mindful of suggestions and for trying to accomodate the wishes of the Isratrance community; and the trance community as a whole.
Thirdly, I have a few more suggestions about the line-up...
It appears to me that there are no local/regional artists on the Orb stage except for Orbit and ROE Revolution.
This is understandable for three reasons:
a) You want to put all of the international acts on the larger, more elaborate stage by the lake...
b) The sound system and DJ set-up will be superior to the smaller stage in logistics, location, and decoration...
c) It is your party and therefore Orbit and ROE will get some of the best timeslots, sandwiched between the international headliners...
Taking these elements into consideration as to the rationale behind breaking up the trance between the two stages; there are still a few things which (I think) could be improved for the overall musical flow on both stages:
a) Since there is no true "night" music at the Orb stage on Friday night, perhaps Illegal Machines would fit better playing after PsyOps at the Maya stage; since they have very similar styles and happen to be close associates.
Illegal machines playing directly after Rinkadink, doesn't make much musical sense...
b) On Saturday night at the Orb stage: Fria and Psykovsky being sandwiched between Chromosome and Shane Gobi is very odd.
There will be no transition between melodic and dark; before or after.
c) U-Reckon, Orbit, and ROE Revolution appear on the line-up for Friday/Saturday and Saturday/Sunday.
This is strange because, with all of the artist/DJs on the line-up, why would someone want to play twice?
That is taking time away from the artists who only play once. It also holds those artists who are playing twice to a high standard to have two DISTINCT sets for the weekend.
It would be sad for the same set to be played twice at an event with such plentiful and diverse other artists.
It also adds another level of stress to those playing both nights. Wouldn't you rather play one night and totally let loose and enjoy others' music on the other night? Who wants the added responsibility of playing both nights?
Here are a few possible soultions to the problems I see:
a) proposed Friday night line-up for Maya stage:
12:00-1:00: Aktif (dark: dj set)
1:00-2:30: Unwashed Tomatos (dark: live set)
2:30-4:00: PsyOps (full-having-it/full power: DJ set)
4:00-6:30: Illegal Machines (full-having-it: live/DJ)
Full-having-it is a term coined by Al and Richie Psymmetrix (www.myspace.com/bomshankamusic )
b) To solve the transitional problem around Fria and Psykovsky, schedule versatile artists before Fria and after Psykovsky.
They should be capable of bringing the light to the dark before and then bringing the dark to the light afterwards.
c) To solve the problem with artist playing two sets in one festival: don't do it!
I'm sure you (Orbit) will have plenty of other things going on to keep you sufficiently busy enough to not play two sets. And the international talent (U-Reckon) would probably apreciate one night to relax and party!

I have to work Thursday until 11:30 and I'm coming from Vermont shortly afterwards... so I'll be getting there around 5 am. is that cool?? is the gate going to be open all night? if not what time will the gate be open on Friday?
Thanks! Excited to see some trance and hang out with some trancers! I'm the only one in this town that really likes psy I'm pretty sure lol

P.S. I think Psykovsky should play a 4 hr. set like he did in the mojave! 2-6/3-7 am! I will probably cum my pants if this occurs during every hour of the set, so I'm going to bring a lot of extra clothing. |
