Has anyone stopped to think why there are parking permit ??

Lets all stop and use our brains. How is the only way for you to limit a certain amount of cars into the campground. Financially...

Imagine everyone brought there vehicles into the campground?? if you want the privilage you have to pay.. this isn't the first psytrance festival in the world to do this... how would people circulate if every car would be allowed into the campground?

Yes, Correct.. I was refering to the new york city scene in events...

Gemini festival I have great admiration and respect for.. really great things they are doing for our culture...

Gaian mind not so much on the other hand.. I am not trying to stir up a storm or any disrespect and everyone does things there own way .. But I truly do not believe or agree that the price tag(almost same price as orb) justify's what is presented.. Infrastructure wise it is not that expensive and they have a pretty inexpensive line up, this year was vibrasphere... Yes they have less people at the festival so maybe it does balance.. I'm sure the organization has there reasons and do there math. I just feel it's too expensive.

Criticisms are not inherently negative. I posted my critique in the suggestions thread because I'd like to see this festival grow and get better. Aladdin has the right idea about artists and is good at booking the high end ones, so now they just need to tweak the infrastructural issues and pacing issues. If people aren't vocal about things nothing will change.

The organizers don't experience the festival in the same way the attendees do - they miss out on some of the issues which seem big to the individual (meal plans, cleanliness) because they are dealing with bigger issues which affect everyone (making sure stages are working, first aid, crowd control). As an organization they will learn how to better deal with things like meal plans and whatnot because the other big stuff will have become routine.

These threads are good because they make things more accessible. I know I would have planned differently had I read through these threads before attending.

The concept of psysnob can go both ways - there is nothing snobby about wanting to advance the scene, and it could be argued that there is a level of snobbery in being so above everything that you don't care where your money goes because you are having fun. Being negative for negatives sake is a whole other thing, and I don't think most people in either of these Orb threads have really been negative, just progressive (like most of the music at this festival *rimshot*).

Oh that is not an organizational factor ?

Would you like to compare the amount of people and structure of one festival to another ??... With respect to the organizers and this not being a place to discuss this, lets just leave it at that.

Platypusmalone That is a perfect example of a good post. We are all human, we all make mistakes. If you don't learn from them... then you have a problem. I'm positive Aladdin recognize the parts that failed in this festival and are sad that these parts failed(not all in there power ex. food plan which was something not expected.)they for sure will work towards it not happening again in the following edition of orb festival.

Criticism and people being vocal about problems is the road to progression..but there are ways to do so.. There are plenty of examples of negative for negative sake especially in the other thread. But you see a lot of people with negative comments who really seem like they had a good time(some I even saw and spoke to personally) and here they are just negative as if it was a horror show just to destroy the productions image and provoke or because they are friends with ___ who doesn't like ____. It's something I only really see in the united states and that's what I meant by snobby. It's that elitist snobby non conformist attitude I hate man. this isn't just towards this festival but any aladdin event even if it goes 100%. like kids in highschool.

you get what I mean man ?

Here's a bit of captured video of the vibe on Sunday afternoon at the main stage, shortly before Shpongle:

I agree with most that this Orb was a great improve from the past editions, the organizers seem to take care of some of the problems that happened in previous editions. I had a great time, it was one of the coolest festivals I have been. The lineup was phenomenal, top notch artists all over, although i do agree with others that rinkadink then psykovisky was not a smooth transition, but oh well... whatever, both of their sets were fuckn sweet, and I enjoyed it a lot.

The whole weekend was full of good music,in addition to Rinkadink and Psykovisky I also loved Logic Bomb, Fria, Illegal Machines, Zen Mechanics, Tranan, Shane Gobi and one that its not so much my style, but fuckn rocked at Orb was Liquid Soul... Oh man, what a set, and I almost forgot, but Domino, playing with tapes old school goa was killer. The locals i didnt got to see many of them, due to the main stage be filled with international talents that we dont get to see them often around here. But Psyops rocked friday night, Mayur's set on thursday night was awesome as well and Rafael killed at the "end" in the main stage, which was not the end, hahahaha.

I loved how the music went until 10 am on monday... that was killer...

Thanks Alladin for all the effort put into this festival.

I just wanted to say I had a fantastic time this year and I CANNOT wait for next years line up. As for the line up this year, it was phenomenal, and there were way too many amazing sets to go into detail. What I will say is that Coral and Paradigm were great on the second stage and the show stopper on the main stage was Liquid Soul - wowza!!

As a side note I am truly sorry about the conditions of the port-o-potties and the flush bathrooms. As a member of the green team we were not given enough resources to make that happen this year, but hopefully next year we can work this out.

I also was disappointed a bit with the sound on the main stage since more bass is needed to project to a crowd that size. It was almost more set up for a live band performance than a dance festival - something again to hopefully improve upon for next year - gwyn

Echo Lake owner charged with health law violations

By: Melissa Stagnaro, Sun Staff Writer
Published: July 23rd, 2009

COVENTRY – The owner of the Coventry campground which stayed in operation despite being closed down by county health officials is now facing personal charges related to the offense.

Ahmad Shaheed, 57, appeared in the Town of Coventry court Wednesday to face charges of willful violation of public health laws in relation to his continued operation of the campground. The charges were filed on July 15 by Chenango County’s Director of Public Health, Marcas Flindt, just days after Shaheed hosted the 3rd Annual Orb Festival, a four-day outdoor music event, at the facility.

According to Flindt’s complaint, which was read during the hearing, Echo Lake had been officially closed by the health department on May 22. Furthermore, notice had been served on two other occasions, on June 15 and 22, that they needed to cease operation immediately because of the closure. These notifications were ignored, however, and the campground remained open.

Shaheed did not have an attorney present, although he was advised by Town Justice Russell Lerwick that he was entitled to representation. The business owner did not enter a plea on the charges, but he did make a statement to the court.

Hey Miguel, been reading this thread with interest to see how Elnadiv got on with organising his little festival; you were helping him yeah? Glad it was successful for you both. It's always good to see the organisers talk about enjoying their own event (sounds like many other people enjoyed it too) and I'm sure you'll take on board any justified criticisms and deal with them appropriately.

I have to haul you up on one thing you wrote here:

Sorry man, but that's not true, you should read some of the party threads on the UK forum when organisers fuck up or take their partygoers for granted; it's brutal. One crew has been banned from promoting their events there because of their dangerous and cynical lack of concern for the people at their parties, and reluctance to pay their artists despite low overheads and huge attendance. Some crews just take the piss and when the people start realising it - the shit starts to fly. Not saying this applies to you guys necessarily, but it goes on all over the world.

Colin's right... I browse the German forums such as Goabase and all hell breaks loose when there are problems like that.

I seem to recall the scene in India having a problem with aggressive competition and cynical disregard for good vibes. Feuding promoters getting into knife fights in public, crews stealing generators from each others' parties...truly toxic behavior.

Hey Guys
This year’s Orb Festival gathering was full of great vibes and beautiful people. The energy was felt throughout the campground with an international gathering of visitors and staff from all parts of the globe and the United Sates, making it possible to enjoy all the festivities with our extended trance family from all over the world.
We are grateful to all the people involved in making this year's festival possible: to the volunteers ,artists ,promoters ,Djs ,visual artists , first aid team, security, sound, lighting and stage crew, vendors, deco teams and workshop instructors that came out before and during to assist in getting the Festival going and maintain high energy during the four days of Music, Art, performances and educational workshops. All of you made it so much easier for us to attend to the many people that showed up to enjoy the celebration.
And to all the great people who took part in the gathering, thank you all for supporting this years’ Orb Festival, for traveling near and far distances to rejoice and connect with Mother Nature in beautiful surroundings. You made this gathering so special and unforgettable, the vibe was superb, all of us uniting as one cosmic family dancing to the awesome sound of the best producers and Dj’s of psy trance music in the world.
The amazing stream of individuals that came together to experience, to love and to dance was and is our satisfaction and motivation to keep on in producing events with the purity of psy trance music. There will be more opportunities for all of us to enjoy and reunite; to share stories of this past festival and other events. Our hearts are full of joy and we expect it to be so, for years to come.
We are planning a series of events for 2009 and 2010, filled with surprises, great music and beautiful environment.
First to come will be “Orb Festival reunion party” on September, 18. That will be held @ Club Exit in Brooklyn, with KOX BOX LIVE & AZAX SYNDROM full info will be posted soon!
