i loved the on-stage lasers that kept cutting through the dancefloor at eye-level, making it impossible to look up with eyes open. saves the trouble of wondering whether you should be looking at other people at night or not.
other pet peeves included: 1.)undrinkable water from all the taps, which in past years have served up clean, clear water fully endorsed by echo lake resort management. shoulda been signs saying there were tons of solids in the water and not to drink this year! 2.) no swimming (cuz ravers can't be trusted to come up for air?) 3.) that friggin' renegade sound system making the whole market area a mashed up sonic soup of 3 different systems.
Oh, and I agree: rinkadink before psykovsky was pretty wack. i wouldn't call Vanna's set "cheeze" but the last few tracks he played (while pyskovsky was having technical difficulties?) were definitely from his morning repertoire and totally unsuited to what followed. sounded like a nice new mix of Kooki Kabooki in there, though, which represents the darker, older Rinkadink style which I love so well. Wish he busted out gems like Sheep Satellite and Kitty Cat Fireball too, keeping with his spot in the lineup. as far as the lineup, i would have done: rinkadink, illegal machines, fria, psykovsky... but that's just me.
all up, the best organized, best sounding upstate NY party we've seen yet. now, thinking back, that's not saying much, but i generally thought this a solid party almost worth the outrageous price tag. i'm guessing they didn't hit the 1000 person mark and have to say that's a good thing. 1500-2K people at Echo Lake would surely try the limits of such a small place with its modest services. for me, the size of the event was just about perfect and the overwhelmingly cool, friendly people made the party.
so many compliments for the deco, im itching to see pictures of them and vids of some of the sets (since i couldnt make it @ the last minute )
Welcome to my world where the grass is purple and the sky is pink, Strawberries are blue with white polka dots, And aliens are the BEST Dance partners.
i did not spent any night at main stage at all which i did not planned so, and i know i did not missed nothing, especially saturday night. be in nature, see the colors, gilrs etc was just perfect and fun, yes bit to old i guess or because i don't take anymore substances or smokes...
oh, Holweck set right before Posford Sunday morning/noon was very nostalgic for me, i enjoyed very much especially his last trax remind me a memorable blue room times but in space way back in the day.
i had a hard time to find a clean toilet and not enought in maya area, thats kind of turning my good time OFF, so i decide to trespass the neighbor property for meditating (too much information)
Oh since I spend most of my time in Maya area, my highlight was Brandom Adam, PROFOUND mixing skill and great trax choices except the last half an hour to the end i (just me) personally don't enjoy very much (well i used too, but not anymore), but thats how his build up flow works.
Also Saturday night/Sunday Morning around 5am, I heard a great Electro Tek Experimental music there, with lots of analoque tweaks and vocal morphing, crazy and tasty and surely DIFFERENT.

hey everyone!!! I had a great time there, I noticed some of the negatives but for the most part I had a very positive time! The people I met we just plain awesome. Full review coming later but some eye candy for now.
and some videos. Note: Sorry the sound quality on my camera is not the best, but you get the idea. I would just make sure your speakers are not on full blast. There's a short video of Psykovsky's set (couldn't take one that was too long or I would miss out hehe!) and rinkadink, atmos, and random progressive.
Just go to uploads on my youtube page. Well we're new age hippies here, you'll figure it out! lol

fumando me la pase and having fun as well the four holy days....
as you can see guys every person has been talking about their own experience....
some people liked the festival, some people dont but i think you gotta have respect all the time.
is so hard to tell them to disappeair just cause u didn't like the party or cause you had been building the psytrance scene in the U.S and this organization is just shameful to your scene.
some parties are good, some aren't,u better know that, there are good times and bad times too all the time not just in a psytrance parties,is like in life.for me this festival has more positive things that negatives, but u know some people always look for the darker side of the things.
i was there last year too and believe me this year was much better that last one.they are getting experience and i'm sure you freaks will back next year!
Deco was top notch
Solar: you rule dude, nos vemos pronto,te gusto la vista desde new jersey??? this is my xperience:
i went to orb in the first bus on thursday,so we got there around 4:30/5:00 pm and then the music started around 6:00 as far as i remember.
the highlight for me on the transition between thursday night and friday morning were 2 or 3 guys spinning a very interesting mixture between techno, dubstep, minimal experimental, does anyone of you knows who the hell are those guys?they were so good.
and then
max and liza's set was just right on friday:
friday day was good as well...
knob you are really cool men.thanx for everything.
Atmos at the evening opening the main stage just blew me away.his music is unique and full of quality, ssssssssss and mapusa me puso so high with the techno spirit the flow between friday night and saturday morning i spent it at the orb stage.
illegal machines, fria,uv,logic bomb and u-recken were enough reasons to do it.
and then saturday came on....
i woke up,i smoked and then we went to cook some meat.when we were walking to the main entrance the rain started so i took my sandals off and i walked in the mud,it was kind of funny.
was good to see familiar faces and then atmos again!!!!
i almost went to the festival cause atmos and i saw him twices, that worth! auricular and then shiva chandra (one of the highlights on saturday night)and rinkadink were the beginning for a long sunday morning, but i shared the same feeling with people that said psykovsky after rinkadink make no sense...what about earworm before psykovsky?its just a thought.so i went to the maia stage and ooohhh surprise tony unorthodox rocking the dancefloor but then i went back to the main stage to heard
shane gobi kudos african people!
u recken, total eclipse, zen mechanics and then liquid soul sunday morning were just a treat
and the rest is history for now this:
image speaks louder that word!
more review and pictures soon!

Hi everyone...
I just wanted to say that this last week was really such an amazing experience. What an awesome party guys!! Everything really really rocked.
I am back in Mexico and I haven´t been able to stop remembering the good times.
I also read the suggestions section and I can´t believe the comments people make... Were we at the same party guys???
I mean... I look at the Alladin crew, who very very obviously put ALL their heart and passion and hard labour into this amazing festival, and they did an amazing job of it (full respect to them), and then you read coments like "they should retire" or "the scene would be better off without them"; this is so far off the mark that its just unbelievable. I think these are guys are doing it 100% right and not only the New York scene is better off for their efforts, but the world trance community is as well. I have never been to the perfect festival and I would't want to (doesn´t exist). Imperfections are what gives flavour and variety to life and when we learn to recognize this we see that the perfection is found in our appreciation of things.
This festival simply rocked... The music, the people, the place, the vibe... I think anyone who was on the main floor dancing under the blue sky, carressed by the sun rays and moved by the beats on the sunday day can agree with me... The Magic was all around us...
we will never have a "perfect party" or festival...
doest metter
we are going to those places to get some fun
to be happy to enjoy the music and life
so what metter if there's is a litle problems or a litle mistakes????
are you guys going to a festival or party to enjoy some good music and good people or to look allround to see some problems????
think about it...
and thanks so much for everything Alladin Crew
was a realy great week for me and a realy great festival, and thanks to those ppl whos enjoid me set on sunday after sphongle i love it
I have lots of pics on my facebook, Blaz Blazso, add me or search for me if you would like to see. I'm the one in the S.W.A.T. gear : )
Awesome fking music. Psykovsky blew my mind! In fact, most DJ's really got my jollys off. met so many amazing people!
My other favorite sets were Fria, Rinkadink, Shane Gobi, Mapusa Mapusa, U-Recken, Logic Bomb, Total Eclipse, and Solar Deliria!! I loved them all so top notch.
The second stage was bangin every time I dropped by, but I was always missing a headliner so I couldnt stay for so long! A+ for all the locals that came out to rock it there!
So many internationals and only a couple couldn't make it, good job!
Deco was just wow. Sober or not, day or night, it was really impressive.
This was my first Orb Fest and really only my second Psy fest, but I have been to a shit ton of massive raves and EDM festivals. The vibe was so much better, so many better people, just awesome compared.
I had a great time but it was pretty rough... complaints and ideas in the suggestion thread.

The festival as Angel Ai says had its positives and negatives but afterall positives win... What was mostly critizised was how Psykovsky played after Rinkadink, and I agree Earworm would have been good before Psykovsky.
The festival will eventually get better, we all do mistakes and learn from them to get better.
We also got more than they promised because they could have just put more efort in main stage than maia stage. But instead they put effort in both.
Appreciate what you have, there are scenes that are so spirit-free they don't have deco, they dont have good system, no shops, no psychedelia.
I went by myself and made some good friends!! Nice meeting Solar, Angel Ai, and the crazy guy mp666 i think hes in canada hahahah!
Nice meeting Max too i forgot him hes one crazi guy!

SOOOO ... I had a really fun time at this festival! You're right everyone! the people at this festival were fuckin awesome. Everyone was really nice, nothing but good vibes floating around, great conversations.
Music was definitely top quality for the most part, but I will go ahead and agree with aktif, about the bad beatmatching in some cases.
PSYKOVSKY played probably the most amazing set I've ever heard, basslines flying into my ears like no tomorrow. The breaks in the bass were super trippy and mind boggling. They made the beat so much better. It was nothing but full power.
I went into this festival knowing it wasn't going to be a darkpsy festival at all. But there was only, what, five or six darkpsy acts? It just really bothered me about the timeslots. A) No flow B) There's not a lot of darkpsy here so us fans are really itching to get the most (not that I don't enjoy good, non cheese full-on) of it, but to put Fria on during unwashed Tomato? It was a crime! lol Unwashed tomato would've been good either before or right after Psykovsky... and earworm, I agree, would have been great before or after both of them. But yea, I feel like I shouldn't have been running back and forth during these two sets when there was plenty of progressive/full on acts. And I'm glad psykovsky got pushed back because of the gas or whatever because 12am is too early to have the only dark act play, and 2 am is to early to have the darkpsy end at a festival.
But yea! I missed Thursday, but PsyOps, Fria, Unwashed, Aktif and Psykovsky were all spectacular sets!! Thank you guys! It meant the world to me.
Bathrooms -- not so clean, but I'm a man, the woods will do.
Too much progressive (an equal balance of the genres would've been better).
Parking passes were too expensive, but frankly, unless I've got my computer or a mixer or something there's no reason to have a parking pass. I don't need a car during a festival.
Even though the path to the main stage was muddy, some little lanterns for the path would've been helpful for not running into giant puddles.
Deco was awesome! It really did remind me of a Eupopean psy fest which was cool. New original stuff, and it was all over the place which was great.
Really happy vibe here, all excited to see top quality artists. Hallucinogen's set was good, as well as the beginning of Shane Gobi (missed the rest), Rinkadink (good, but thought it would be more twilight-like), Atmos was fun, and some cool minimal sounding people on the maia stage early fri- and early sat.
I guess I might have been standing in the right spots on the dancefloor cuz I didn't really hear the bad sound quality, and I don't set up sound ever so I wouldn't have noticed the non array set up. But I've been to plenty of parties where the bassline was super muddy and not clean, and crisp like it should be. At this festival it sounded good to me, imo
I had a great time, all of the small complaints for me were easy to ignore. I would definitely attend another Orb, though I could see how the cabin and meal plan thing would throw people otherwise. I came on a super budget and couldn't afford all of that. But thanks alladin I did have a really good time!
and some videos. Note: Sorry the sound quality on my camera is not the best, but you get the idea. I would just make sure your speakers are not on full blast. There's a short video of Psykovsky's set (couldn't take one that was too long or I would miss out hehe!) and rinkadink, atmos, and random progressive.

All in all... as Deliria said it best... Imperfections exist in every festival and every aspect of life.. our main goal in life is learning and distributing what we learn to be able to teach and the world turns and civilization evolves. This can be put in practice to anything and everything...
It is much more difficult to create something then to destroy it.
Alot of the negative comments are simply just negative people who just hop on the "fad" train and bash the organization cause there friends said this or there friends said that.. but lets put facts into play... What organization has given well organized events for 8 years and a recent ever growing and evolving festival?
Why the negativity and hate? I really start to think thats it's a fashion.. Like we are all in high school or something... I know a lot think they are super high beings who self recognize intellect by pointing a false "sentiment" of the production or are those super non-conformist "my superior opinion and ideals" kids. In london there is a funny word for these people... PsySnobs. Kids lay off your fairytale alters.. If you must critisize do it maturely.
It's the most useful tool to growth and evolution ...constructive criticism
All in All on a personal taste view my favorite live was UV weird nice powerful music always suprising.. Just my cup of tea enjoyed everyone but some really raised my grin.. Fria, Logic bomb, shane gobi, rinkadink, liquid soul, halucionegen/shpongle(especially shpongle )
All in All.. From an international point of view I thought this Orb festival was a very big pleasant step for the american Psychedelic Trance scene and does not deserve to be looked at and verbally destroyed by grown children and their destructive remarks. Infrastructure wise It was at par with some of the great festivals in Europe.
Was great to spend some time with friends from around the world who were present and seeing the smiles on everyones face on the dancefloor...
My cheeks still hurt to this day

i have been reading all through these reviews.. And they are not negative.. For me the part that goes again is the extra parking fee and meal plan.. This should just have been refunded..
