I cant comment on the meal plan cos I didnt buy one the Veggie Oasis stall was jus killer serving delicious stuff for a good price !!!! Also cant comment on the parking permit as I didn't see any point of why would someone need a car right next to the tent for 3 days when you got everything with you ? (I do agree that 35$ charged to the artists is ridiculous)
But one thing I have to say that Orb was better organized then the last two years IMHO ! the space looked awesome with some really good deco ... nice setup ... and with no tent over the main dance floor it even looked more spacious ... was good to see something different then the usual hanging of tapestries around the trees !
For me it was an AWESOME festival for some good reasons: Friday night Psyops at the maya stage set things up with some really nice danceable nighttime tunes, run to main stage to hear FRIA which was an exceptional set ... some wicked tunes there with a very good flow ... wish it lasted more then 75 minutes illegal machines followed with a good start ... tho I expected it to be more crazier
Saturday night : Can anyone put it into better words of what Psykovsky played ?? the most psychedelic set I have heard in my last 3 years of partying in US it was such a banger ... the flow ... variation in tempo the breaks ahhh ... can say psychedelic at its f-in best. again could have done with more then 2 hours haha .... followed by Shane Gobi !!! that was the end to the dark psy at Orb at this time I really wondered why was the time slots so messed up (my only genuine complain).
But Sunday morning after resting for a while during Simons set haha ZEN Mechanics provided the very much needed perfect morning tunes to dance to the beautiful weather ! loved every bit of his set (Spiritualism and love ) followed by Liquid Soul delivering another sweet set which just brightened up my day.
We were so blessed by the weather. Presence of all the elements is what makes festivals so special to me ... moon lit lake and the mist in the morning to the thunders on saturday afternoon and the rains ... washing the energy from the previous night of dancing providing fresh grounds to stomp with more love all of sunday ... the energy was amazing with lots of colorful bodies and smiling faces, freaks dancing till 9 pm Sunday night !
thanks Alladin for the festival ... and much thanks to all the wonderful people that bring in all the love to make it a special weekend !

Okay, here comes my review and its going to be LONG...
Music:
The artists that I thought would be good; WERE good!
The story that Psykovsky told, was very profound and complex.
At first, I was a little tripped out and confused by the high BPM; but the layers in the background made up for it. I guess it was all part of the story.
After the first hour of his set, the dancefloor was so hungry for something to grab a hold of, that when the BPM came down to about 160; the place went FUCKING CRAZY!!!
What a master story-teller that guy is...
The last 30-45 minutes of his set was some of the best "having-at-it" that I can remember for a live set in some time.
Now I see why he should play a much longer set.
And how about PsyOps?!!!
I think I stomped a two foot hole in the mud listening to that guy's music. It was a little faster than I have heard him play before, but great track selection as always!!! A lot of new stuff too! GREAT DJ SET (my favorite DJ set of the festy)!
My next favorite was Fria. She played a few oldies but goodies, which sounded a lot better on a big system than they do on my iPOD...
Great stage presence and some new tracks which had us all really going!
I enjoyed Illegal Machines as well, but honestly; I expected something better.
I only caught 2-3 songs from the Tomatos guys, but I enjoyed those as well. I like how they bring the base down real low and grimey. Good stuff from the Philly guys!!!
Brandon played a solid set Thursday that got me moving around for the first time of the festy.
Sorry to not see Niki. I was hoping to hear some of that new release he put out.
I'm not sure who was DJing Sunday afternoon; and it wasn't my favorite style of trance; but I had fun dancing out there nonetheless.
Organization:
The organization of this party was much better than the previous two Orb fests. The decor was TOP NOTCH and the vendor area was set up much better. Also, I didn't see any giant piles of garbage laying upside of any trees or anything. They also got rid of the giant halogen lights in the path which blinded everyone as they walked through.
I didn't see any rip-you-off vendors, and the bars near the dance stages were a nice new touch. The drinks weren't cheap, but it was cheaper than NYC, and the bar-tenders were nice guys.
I had no problems with drunk-asses hassling me; but for those who did: JUST MOVE YOUR CAMP!
There is sooooo much room to camp at that location, that you have no excuse to complain about your neighbors; unless they are tweakers who cut your tent and steal all your stuff.
In which case, I feel your pain. If they are just annoying and worry you; why not just move?
People and vibes:
Everyone I met and randomly conversed with seemed cool enough. I also made some good new connections with people and renewed some good old connections with people.
I sensed a few bad vibes, but I was able to stear clear of problems. Sometimes NYC partiers can be a little edgey...
But its NYC right? Come-On!!!!
ISRA:
It was really cool to meet up with those ISRA folks who I was able to identify (and you know who you are!). I would love to party with you all in the future!
OVERALL:
Fucking awesome party!!! Not perfect. But I am still perma-grinning!!!
Cheers to Alladin and everyone I came in contact with.
Love and Light, and see you soon!

despite the expected barrage of negative comments, i would consider this year's Orb an undeniable success, and a big step forward. so many things were tightened up organizationally...lineups were posted proper and official, even though things slipped off schedule by the end, but overall for an event of this magnitude, timeslots were adhered to despite some local dj flake-outs, and all major artists were present and played beautiful sets. the sound on both stages was powerful and clear, and the the fluoro environment was out of this world. it truly felt like the world class festival the organizers had envisioned. attendance probably surpassed both previous years combined, well over 1000, and was enough to sustain both stages more often than not. there was a noticeable abundance of new amenities including hot water sinks, drink stands and first aid crews. musically, main stage friday night thru sat. morning (fria thru logic bomb) was the highlight for me. rain and exhaustion kept me in hiding during rinkadink and psykovsky sets, but sunday afternoon hallucinogen nearly brought me to nostalgic tears and liquid soul was also impressive. rafael ended the day with a great set as well, as the sun was going down, and the music actually kept going until sunrise monday. even thursday was a blast with well over 100 people gettin' down @ the maya stage. this festival succeeded at bringing together old and new generations of the trance community, which is rare - as well as drawing in some new faces. thank you Alladin Crew for your dedication and hard work. looking forward to another epic festival next year |

I'll get the bad out of the way first. Here were some things I didn't like/that should be addressed.
"Third was sound. Not sure what was messed up with the sound on the second stage- might have been djs running the reds, but it kept dipping and sounding strange esp on thursday night. Main stage sound setup was just plain wrong- subs off to the side- wtf? Again, something else that should be fixed, but didn't ruin my good time. Bringing in the caliber of artists that were there and having a crap sound setup is just wrong."
Mr.Ascension Did you realy check the sound system setup on ear&eyes??
i notice orb festival had subs in main stage(it was big sub hard to not notice ..)& another woofers was under the stage and angled.
i allso noticed full range speakers was hanging in the behind the decors .
i didn't hear any phase or anything like that
whats you mean by
"Main stage sound setup was just plain wrong- subs off to the side- wtf??"
there was the subs and WTF you talking about??in both side speakers was full range speaker they are able to play whole frequency
they are own so you don't need extra sub
but just in case they had subs...: )
you just didn't notive some how for 3 days over...: (
Todays most of proffesinal studio's based on stereo speaker setup and do both recording &mixing.
and i felt both stage was normal set up for any kind of music styles.. in my opinion.... : )
just in case check this for yourself... "Noise induced hearing loss" (NIHL) be healthy !!don't get too close to speakers ear is limited and it is gift...
ciao : )

If you don't know why having the subs that far away from the main setup is wrong, you don't know much about setting up a system for a psy party. You don't want to spread your frequencies out like that. If you stood by the sides the subs were on, the high frequencies were only coming from the direction of the stage. Basically, why expand the area in which the sound is coming out and only allow a certain frequency to be played in that area? It's pointless to try to expand the listening area, but restrict the frequency range being played in certain areas. This is a simple concept to understand.
You have to put everything in the same place, having the subs that far out was just ridiculous. I know how to setup stages, I've done it before. I have great hearing for all this. If you didn't hear the delays caused by the setup, then your hearing isn't that fine tuned. There were plenty of times if you stood in certain places around the main stage dancefloor it sounded like the dj was trainwrecking a track due to the delay. Many other people heard this with me.

main stage had only monitor for stage and 1 set of full range speaker in distance about 16 ~18 feet
in the side they install full stack system in "same place"
why you want stack system like Boombox cabinet?
if you want just boost lower frequency just do it..
all the frequency get messed up and will need some another calilulation to fix the problems..
but in my opinion psytrance is quality music not just
boosting bass...we want hear clear and powerfull music if it's just nasty sound i realy avoid to hear....
http://www.beachsound.com/photos.html
http://www.jackhammerliveaudio.com/id4.htm
each system is deferent 'cause the place fields but same rule as this.
If it is mess up ???no good for psytrance music?? ; )
i think all the system calculate the speaker distance before you even set up the turbo sound system or anykind of SR or Flying systems....that is very normal step and every engineer need to do the dead pointcheck with Real time anlyzer in evry corner of fields .....this is allso in my opinion : )

Yeah I know what they had on the stage, I'm just saying that having a lot of extra subs far out on the sides doesn't make sense...
What was on the stage: good setup
Adding subs on the sides: bad setup
Having a half good and half bad setup = bad setup overall
