I cant comment on the meal plan cos I didnt buy one the Veggie Oasis stall was jus killer serving delicious stuff for a good price !!!! Also cant comment on the parking permit as I didn't see any point of why would someone need a car right next to the tent for 3 days when you got everything with you ? (I do agree that 35$ charged to the artists is ridiculous)

But one thing I have to say that Orb was better organized then the last two years IMHO ! the space looked awesome with some really good deco ... nice setup ... and with no tent over the main dance floor it even looked more spacious ... was good to see something different then the usual hanging of tapestries around the trees !

For me it was an AWESOME festival for some good reasons: Friday night Psyops at the maya stage set things up with some really nice danceable nighttime tunes, run to main stage to hear FRIA which was an exceptional set ... some wicked tunes there with a very good flow ... wish it lasted more then 75 minutes illegal machines followed with a good start ... tho I expected it to be more crazier

Saturday night : Can anyone put it into better words of what Psykovsky played ?? the most psychedelic set I have heard in my last 3 years of partying in US it was such a banger ... the flow ... variation in tempo the breaks ahhh ... can say psychedelic at its f-in best. again could have done with more then 2 hours haha .... followed by Shane Gobi !!! that was the end to the dark psy at Orb at this time I really wondered why was the time slots so messed up (my only genuine complain).

But Sunday morning after resting for a while during Simons set haha ZEN Mechanics provided the very much needed perfect morning tunes to dance to the beautiful weather ! loved every bit of his set (Spiritualism and love ) followed by Liquid Soul delivering another sweet set which just brightened up my day.

We were so blessed by the weather. Presence of all the elements is what makes festivals so special to me ... moon lit lake and the mist in the morning to the thunders on saturday afternoon and the rains ... washing the energy from the previous night of dancing providing fresh grounds to stomp with more love all of sunday ... the energy was amazing with lots of colorful bodies and smiling faces, freaks dancing till 9 pm Sunday night !

thanks Alladin for the festival ... and much thanks to all the wonderful people that bring in all the love to make it a special weekend !           *physical universe is finite....Spirit is infinite*

I know the reviews seem very negative but even with all my complaints I still turned it into a positive, interesting time.

Its just easy to let the problems slip when you are having a good time - there was some serious financial outlay for most people attending and we didn't get what we paid for. The psy community can turn inherently negative stuff into something that still has that positive silver lining, but we should definitely stand up and talk about this stuff.

Glad I am not the only one who had issues. I hate complaining but the discussion should be had.

Most everything people are complaining about was negligible or just a small instance (some of the stuff with djs being treated poorly does suck though). I never once the entire weekend or now regret taking time or spending money to go to that festival. Anyone who let the small things ruin their good time must have just been looking for negative things. There were a billion times more positive aspects to the fest than negative ones.

A lot of people don't realize that there are always negative things at festivals, your reaction to them is what really defines the experience.

Preface: the people we met while at the festival made the experience worthwhile.
ORB BUS (from NYC):
Having not brought much stuff, as we took the Orb bus, we didn't have that much to lose. (Initially we were sent way downtown manhattan, and then were forced to call an organizer to be given the correct departing address by phone, the email we received sent us to the wrong place initially, and it took them up until the day before the event to give us the erroneous departing address *sigh*)

The ride back, involved going through Pennsylvania, for what reason who knows?! Better drivers who know how to get to Echo Lake and back to NYC would be awesome. So many people missed their buses from Port Authority to get home and they were stuck in NYC with nothing left to do but pitch their tents and wait until morning...?! Not cool man.

CABINS = SHACK:
Charging $206 for a cabin, which was a shack, is ridiculous. The space had four walls and a roof (lucky for us when it rained our roof did not leak, others were not so lucky). No way to lock cabin from inside when you were inside the place sleeping. Wood was rotting, all sorts of bugs. Wooden planks were not joined, it was kind of like living with four walls of blinds around you...every Peeping Tom's dream!

MEAL PLAN:
The meal plan was a joke. You had to basically stand around the area where the grill was and wait. I think they were generally hoping that everyone would give up and walk away.

It is completely irresponsible to have so many people out in the forest, and not have food for them. Processed burgers, fine, whatever, but you should at least have food available at all times. Granola, fruit, something for those who purchased the meal plan. In future, bring your own food, and don't pay. Oh wait, you have to pay for the parking permit...But at least you'll get food when you need it.

Also, not providing water or beverages besides coffee and some juice in the morning for those who purchased the meal plan is reckless.

The entire attitude toward providing food and water was RECKLESS. "Organizers" you knew or should have known, having done this before, that nutrients and hydration are necessary. For those who pre-pay and for those who pay on the spot.

BATHROOMS:

The bathrooms were dirty, nothing wrong with using nature, but for those who used them after Friday morning, I hope you didn't leave with any infections! If you do, and it can be traced back unsanitary conditions, from using the bathrooms, I am pretty sure there are legal claims that can be made. The liability waiver will not protect the "organizers" from responsibility for providing inhabitable conditions for the attendees of the event.

THE MUSIC:

The music was well, confusing. I'm all for all types of sounds, but WHO PLAYS THE BLACK EYED PEAS RANDOMLY IN THE MIDDLE OF A PSY SHOW?! I guess we were in da club or something?

Most of the best DJ's were on at the wrong hours. Future note, do no play progressive all day long, and into the night. Headliners should start the party around 10, or once it gets dark out, if not you just kill the momentum...

ORGANIZATION:
The Bus showed up near an hour late to pick us up in NYC.

Arriving, it was chaos, because the girl on the bus took our tickets and handed them off to someone in the welcome center, who then had to try and find them. I wound up using my iPhone to prove I had paid, and then to show that I had paid and not been directed my cabin or given meal plan tickets.

A lack of a clear schedule or information about anything, as well as a lack of organization from the moment you stepped into the welcome center set the tone for the ridiculous "coordination" involved.

SECURITY:

Some drunk dude kept yelling and was miraculously let back in after being arrested outside the main gate-- yeah way to go guys, let an annoying drunk who has no reason to be in there, get comps and be let back in.

Especially after terrorizing his neighbors who had no clue why he was always wasted and looking for his "dog". That ruined the atmosphere. And if that Drunk was someone important, maybe he should've been relocated to a non-shack so that the rest of us could rest and party in peace?!

The Drunk posed a grave security concern, not because I thought he would steal my property, but mostly because he posed a threat to the entire community, especially after getting arrested, outside the gate, and having his car searched. Way to Go Security! Way to Go "Organizers"!

VENDORS:

The Vegetarian Vendors kept me alive, as the meal plan required constant effort.

PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT:

Overall the highly transited areas were clean, which was surprising, good job keeping the contaminated lake clean.

CONS:
- no lounge area as advertised
- contaminated lake, not given a warning
- golf carts racing with intoxicated drivers at all hours of the day and night (at night with no lights, made it dangerous to walk around)
- could have put down more hay to avoid muddiness on roads
- needed seating around stages (hay bales would have worked and been multifunctional)
- meal plan: you should not have to work to get food as a person paying so much money, you should have food and drink available at all times for meal plan purchasers
- unable to deal with a drunk, and to keep him out and avoid the potential threat to all the fest goers
- weird mix of music, best acts at odd hours, avoid playing Top 40 Radio at all costs
- why do you not have enough fuel to play music?
- why wait to open the main stage for 2 days?

PROS:

- met some cool people, and created a neighborhood environment so as to cope with the disorganization

- "organizers" managed to keep the premises, at least, the roadways clean

There are negatives to everything, such is life.

However, when it comes to taking on the responsibility to throw an event like this, it is reckless to endanger the health and well being of festival goers. The Organizers claim to have previous experience and when as an organizer you take on the responsibility of adequately housing and feeding people who pre-paid for services that were not rendered, you leave yourself open to looking like you are disorganized an inexperienced.

It was an experience.
Good People. Generally Good Vibes.

True, now that I went though, it just seems like a lot of people only focus on the negative aspects of the party and let it ruin their experience. Maybe I was just better prepared for things to be "off".           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

Though it's true that almost all good festivals have an aspect of being an "ordeal," Orb definitely had a lot of organizational problems that detracted from the value.

Major issues:
* Lack of cleaned facilities (though the handwashing stations were a very, very good idea)
* Lack of accurate schedule and poor adherence to set times
* Almost all headlining acts were on very late Saturday night and Sunday (I'm sure there were a lot of people in an unfit condition to drive getting on the roads and creating a hazard to everyone)
* Lack of volunteer coordination
* Meal plan was essentially a scam
* Intoxicated staff driving around recklessly in trucks and carts
* No chill lounge, as advertised
* No swimming, as advertised
* Poor sound quality at main stage
* Technical errors that interrupted a great portion of the DJs' sets

I won't be back next year, but wish the promoters well and hope they can make an improvement if they choose to repeat the event next year.

It is obvious this production company doesn't have the skills or competence to run a major event like this. When you have a thread with people complaining constantly its a sign that you have no idea what the hell your doing.

I vote for them to NEVER do Orb Festival again. Please just do us all a favor and make this year the last one.

Sorry to be so negative but its the truth. & Sometimes the truth hurts.

You seem bitter. Maybe something else happened inside of you last weekend to make you lash out in this way right after a festival.

I was hoping maybe people would not immediately begin posting the negative things until some of the good vibes have worn off for those of us who enjoyed it...

Yeah, what is up with this...It's like ppl have vandetta against the Org...

Yeah the effin subs were out of phase because they didn't have them in an array setup but so what?! All you had to live with is a small sounding "thwack"...After about an hour your ears adjust to it and you don't even notice it. That is unless that is all you can dwell on, the negativity...tsk tsk tsk....Your problem I say. Sorry.

I honestly feel sorry for all you people who think the world is ending just because you didn't get your way 110%. IT"S LIFE. Look, shit is going to go wrong or not your way at a festival. It's your attitude that can make it good or bad.

Frankly a lot of your attitudes SUCK! I played there, asked for a meal plan on several occasions and was told I had one for free...That was not the case when I tried to get one, got told to basically go away without ticket...I had to purchase one....Did that ruin my time....NOOOOOOO....I ate DELISH falafel and potato burritoes all weekend...wtf is wrong with that...Yes to all that got scammed with the meal plan, I am sorry...that sucks. But it happens, next time you'll know to COME PREPARED!!!!

Ok the toilets were filty. Shame on the org for not cleaning that...But to kind of of set that there were Hand washing stations everywhere, which was awesome to see…

But to say the BIGGEST thing that sucked for me. Is the piss poor djing of some of the performers. WTF was that. I was under the impression that this is the BEST OF THE BEST here and nothing else…I heard sooooo many djs that were effing AMATURE at mixing. Most of Thursday and Friday it was bad. I was shocked by this. No names to be mentioned but seriously, you know who you are…You saw me shaking my head when you were looking around mid mix like “Damn I hope they don’t notice this trainwreck real quick”….and you just looked around like you don’t know what happened. PRACTICE PEOPLE. This is Orb, I brought my A game and gave myself 2 gold stars for absolutly ripping shit up….I hope the other djs start practicing, because until you get mixing right, your not a dj, just a hack. My list of people to bring out got real short after listening to some of the mixing. Call it what you want to call it, you sounded like shit, you know who you are. You looked like your ok with that…Well I am not, that doesn’t fly in my book, if you don’t know fundamentals of DJING get the hell off the stage and quit making me cringe with your mixing. I can’t believe more people don’t find this unacceptable. ANY THOUGHTS??????

This was the best festival EVER for me. My attitude was extrastellar, I was there to have the time of my life and job well done. I did it. It’s like some people can’t see the positive. Yeah the line was off by couple hours, but ASK SOMEONE if you are confused….we are all family, no one will bite your head off for asking questions! I was given to opportunity to see the most auspicious and sought after artists in the Global Trance scene…THEY ROCKED. THANK YOU X 100000 for this!

I will leave you with this…ALWAYS come prepared to a festival, for anything. Then you will be like Ascention, my friend Andy or myself at the end of it all…You will have had the time of your life.

Thanks once again, I look forward to many more. Hit me up next year and I will be HAPPY to rip reality up for you guys once again. Seriously and if you want some super duper performers, that know technically what the hell is up, LOOK TO THE MIDWEST, you are going to be surprised what you find.

This festival KICKED ASS!!!

Zzzing!!! See you SOON!

Perhaps those of us who purchased the meal plans WOULD HAVE arrived prepared with food for the weekend if we hadn't paid $73 for each member of our party to be able to eat. We arrived prepared with the expectation that the meal plan would begin on Friday morning, and thus only came prepared with enough food for Thursday night. The festival's lack of coming through on the meal plans has nothing to do with "good vibes", it is poor organization on their part. My party in particular paid almost $300 with the expectation that we would be fed the meals we were promised throughout the weekend, and Orb Festival did not deliver on their end. We would have came prepared to eat for four days if the meal plan wasn't an option and we knew we would have to rely on ourselves for food-we chose to pay $73 each to eat for the weekend because they made it an option. The only thing they have to do to fix this problem? Not offer the meal plans, and people would come prepared and not complain that they didn't get fed.
