Dear party people

This is to clear up some issues that keeps on coming up from the same users repeatedly, and to inform the new comers.

Artists no show –
Most of the artists booked in all of Alladin's history, did show up and did a great job and we all had a blast
The artists that did not show up at the event that they were booked for were unable to attend for personal reasons. Some had visa problems, some were sick and some had sudden obligations that they could not avoid.
When we booked those same artists again, they showed for the party and played great sets. Even after , when some of them posted an explanation for not arriving some of you were still were not satisfied and kept holding a grudge, maybe there was an understanding but ended up believing in others opinions who wanted to stir the pot. (When this happened to a different production the response was understanding and supportive - so go figure.)

Door over pricing –
All the people that were and are still doing parties/festivals charge the same price for admission as Alladin does, and sometimes more. This is for the same size or even smaller productions. You can check it out for yourselves. Also some might know this, but to clarify, we do not make any money by throwing parties , we always break even, or worse sometimes have to pay the artists from our own pocket ,since there’s no guarantees in the psy trance scene in the US, yet we still manage to keep on going despite all setbacks.

Regarding food overpricing -
Last year we had an outside caterer that did a poor job and overpriced the food. We apologized for that and we apologize for it again. This year we will be on top of the food and drinks pricing to ensure that it doesn't happened again.

As to the garbage, we had signs posted all over to keep the place clean. As to be expected, some people don’t particularly pay attention as much as others. Also, we underestimated the amount of garbage cans to accommodate the crowd. This year, Alladin Group & Orb Green Team will oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the festival site with a big crew of friendly people that will be making sure the place stays as clean as possible.

Sound –
In the past 2 years the same company provided sound and lighting set up. The first year the sound was good, the second year the company had a crisis and did a poor job. They did not arrive on the scheduled day and ended setting up the sound very poorly. It was totally frustrating for us as it was to all you guys, but there was nothing we could do to change the situation at the time. (Later we found out that the same sound company also messed up the job for a few more unsatisfied customers.)
This year we're hire different, professional and equipped company that's in good shape, responsible and does the job, that they are hired to do. They have guaranteed us great sounds, lighting and timely setup through out the whole event.

Negativity -
Some people find bashing Alladin Group amusing, maybe even profitable. By publicly calling us names, bullying us and acting like hooligans, they attempt to insult us personally, undermine our credibility, question our intentions and are looking to upset us and throw us off balance.
We assure you that this will not happen . We know who we are and are dedication to the trance scene, as many of you know and keep on supporting us with your presence and great vibe .
There's always room for improvement and it's great to get well intentioned and supportive feedback in order to always grow the scene. But this kind of bashing is pathetic and it leads only to more negativity, as we all know. It just drags on and brings the shit out of people, instead of constructive criticism, they're just pouring their shit out for the hell of it, and that's really sad since we always try to address the problems that arise.

FYI-
Alladin Group/Orb Festival crew is fully dedicated day by day to bringing an higher level psy productions. We aim for great music and good times, smooth organization and positive shanti vibes! Joining and combining with our psy family, people from all over the globe with the top international music production artists and top international decoration artists. And it all wouldn’t be all possible without your support and encouragement, psy lovers from all over the world. We have full trust in the healing sounds and the psy vibrations that brings us together and resolves our differences. All uniting together for solemnly one purpose, which is to enjoy and have fun by letting our spirits fly along with the music, the environment and people. We're here to stay and intend to produce more and more, better and better psy trance events and festivals with the music that we all love and adore so much.

In conclusion-
All of the points you guys brought up are well taken and we are taking extra care to make sure that everything will run as smoothly as possible. So we can all enjoy Mother Nature together with the best vibes, best sound, best headliners and best decorations from some of the top artist/crews of the globe.

In a few days we'll advertise the festival's plan so you'll all know what to expect.
We're looking forward to seeing you all there!

Also all the requests and points made that have been emailed to the site will be answered very soon.
Thanks for your patience.

See you all on the dance floor!!!

Very professional Alladin Project...Thank you for addressing the issues presented to you.

I am looking forward to this year's orb festival. The line up is madness with artist covering almost all genres of psychedelic trance - and seemingly ap has adopted a customer service attitude. Great job!

I suggested paying a trance guy like Ben-light-O-matic or Kri to help set up the sound and he said that they would rather have a "professional"...

Um, yeah... Kri's been putting together some of the sickest festy's in the Southeast for over ten years, but he's not a "professional" ?

Fie, I say. Fie on that.

Haha thanks Alakazam & Somasen. I really appreciate that more than you could imagine.

I do think I do a professional quality sound job. I have actually been paid MANY times for sound and lighting over the past 30 years doing it, and am thus a professional and have proven myself a competent one.

Actually I am engineering the sound for the Gemini Festival this year. It's Wichdoktas system, but I'm doing the tuning and taking care of things. Hope you will enjoy the results if you are there

And I especially thank certain people/groups.. for example Psybotik, 28th Day, Gui"aum"etrix, Gaian Mind and others over the years who support my system with paying events so that I can keep it going.. because you don't know what a good sound system costs until you try it. It's not cheap. But then this system also goes to free parties.. it goes to cheap parties for very cheap. Many times I have offered my system for the cost of renting the van that moves it. But if money doesn't come in sometimes, then the system can't exist. It's not an easy thing to keep going.

The whole professional vs non-professional thing is a very slippery subject. None of us here are professionals.. Alladin aren't professionals either. We are all doing it for the love of it, as Alladin pointed out so beautifully just before... It doesn't mean we take less care to do things right. Alladin is trying to get better with each event and do the right thing, and that's what matters.

I could have done lighting and sound for a living, I wanted to do theatre lighting and sound.. and I did do quite a lot of that and got paid for it! But I chose to make computers.. a better paying field.. my main profession, and sound and lighting is my second profession. That way I can choose to work on the events I love rather than working on the events that pay the most money. I suspect that many people who do the best work in psytrance have a similar story. For example the many fantastic artists that we have in the scene, who mostly will never make a good living doing what they do. But they do it so beautifully! I DJ'd at the Gaian Mind last weekend and Uta put up some tapestries I had not seen before, that blew my mind. Amazing work! I don't worry if he's a professional, I am just glad he does it. Same goes for a person like Luis (Dreamcatcher) who gave me a zillion chances to DJ when I was first learning, and he does stuff like that for everybody! He is just that kind of guy. Great at what he does and he loves psytrance.

Anyway I don't blame Alladin if they want to go with a big sound company for their festival.. After last year I imagine they want to go with a really conservative choice, I understand that totally. I throw parties, I know how it is. I did try to contact them to talk about doing it for them, but I haven't talked to them. So I am just finding out the plans like everyone else. I was going to suggest to them the options of doing the whole thing, or doing just one stage for them, which would still save a bunch of money.

But anyway, yea, psytrance is such a small world that even losing one party to an outside sound company really hurts my ability to keep things going and makes it very hard to keep going. But psytrance is what I love to do, so I try to keep going. The money I do get for the system goes into the upkeep of the system, and to whatever growth I can afford, which right now isn't much. If some other NY psy organizers were to use my system I would put that money into it and make it bigger and better. If the money doesn't come, then eventually I will downsize the system or maybe ditch it altogether. Or I'll work on other types of parties more and less on psytrance. But psytrance is just people doing their thing, they have to do what they love to do the way they want to do it. That's all I'm doing

Anyway, thanks for you support and sorry this turned out to be such a long message...

I talked to the organizers of this festival yesterday, and they told me that they were going to have some extra generators at both stages to make sure that the power is high enough to drive all the speakers.

In my experience, MOIRE generators is a fail. Just get one BIG generator and don't worry about ANYTHING. Once you have more than 5 gennies, it's cheaper to get the 100,000 watt tow behind anyways and those run nearly silent compared to a bunch of little ones. Also - the big one has an inverter so you won't get that annoying hum from some gear. The little ones are louder and tend to create dirty power.           Spacecamppsyfari.com

Of course, last year Alladin used metrosound, and in my book metrosound qualifies as pro sound if anyone does... pro sound companies may in many cases have more experience then weekend warriors, but obviously they can still fuck things up.

Hi Visage, yes I remember you! Thanks a lot, I'm glad you liked the sound. That was a good party.

As far as me doing more.. well, I worked on 13 events so far in 2009.. I did sound for 8 of those, lighting for two. I have 4 more events coming up in June.. so is that doing more?? But only about half those were/are psytrance. I would like to do more psytrance.

But if you want to know when I'm doing something, put yourself on my mailing list.. it's on my web site http://light-o-matic.com ... I don't send out many mailings but when I work on an event, or if I am DJing, I send the information out.

Skeeve.. I didn't mean to say that Metrosound isn't pro, or that a pro can't fuck up.. because obviously it happened. But Metrosound is a good company, I have a lot of respect for him.

I just meant that people tend to trust big companies to do a good job more than small ones. Whether or not that's actually true is a whole 'nother conversation.

Personally I haven't had a major technical fuckup in 9 years of doing lighting and sound for parties. Only a couple of minor ones that were dealt with very quickly. But basically, I have a nearly 100% success record, which I am proud of. So, obviously, I don't think you have to be a big professional company to do a good job.

hey everyone,

i don't want to stir up any emotions or anything. i have no prior knowledge with regards to the trance scene in NYC, but I have definitely overheard many complaints about things that go on there. i have also heard many great things.

Basically, I don't know who to listen to. We want to go to the Orb Festival July 9, 2009, but some folks warned that in the past, the organizers (Alladin) didn't bring the artists that were promised to the event. i also heard something about "skinheads, thieves, and liars" with respect to the NYC trance scene.

i don't care much for heresy.. and i'm not about to judge Alladin based on blogs alone.... i have a lot of respect for the fact that it seems that Alladin is really working hard at promoting great artists in a good party environment. but i would still like to here your opinion

are the complaints just coming from some digruntled blogger being libelous or are these complaints valid???

once again, i am not looking to stir the water for any reason.... just someone tell me please- is it worth the trip??

thanks guys

mizza

ooops! sorry, i posted my last post elsewhere and it was moved to this thread... i see that this issue has already been discussed. i should say, however, that it is nice to see an open discussion, and it is especially noteworthy that alladin responded to the issues and concerns that were raised.... we'll see how this next party goes, but remember- it's not just the organizers who are responsible for how fun the party is, it's everyone!

LOL! So, not to stir up any emotions.. but I heard that all the people where you're from are skinheads, thieves and/or liars.. so I was just wondering which you are?? Honest question, not meaning to stir up any emotions! Thanks

I'd just like to say that the haters should probably chill out as I don't see ANYONE else attempting events on this scale. The bigger the event, the bigger the problems. You can ASSUME one of their headliners won't make it and it WONT be their fault. They have 20 headliners and the odds of something going wrong are immense. Even with locals, you always get a few no shows and cancellations when you have that many people. In all honesty, the haters on here seem like they might be friends of a sour grapes rival promoter...           Spacecamppsyfari.com
