Already for a long time I follow work of Soundmute Recordings. Since first release that I heard of them, they got my full attention. Bunch of great techno, progressive, psy and ambient releases in catalog makes my music word so much reach!
Latest of releases form this label brought, correct me if I am wrong, a headliner of label artists OPSY and his amazing album New Kind Of Radiation.
I follow Opsy work too for a long time, and I know many of his works and this album is a long time waited for me. I remember that album supposed to show up way earlier and it was postponed couple of time, but based on what I hear, was worth to wait.
Concept of album amazed me so much. Every single track is totally different style from each other but within the genre. And it is highly valued. Especially now days when almost everything sound totally same. This one is total refresh for speakers, ears, soul, parties and festivals.
For all those who like heavy beats and dynamic atmospheres this CD will be right choice.
I love, so much, to unpack a CD and to goes all through the cover to check what is inside. I was amazed by story and explanation of what cover present to this album and that cover art photo is actually place where artist check his album material during the casual night walk with his dog. Brilliant!!!
Somehow album seems like divided on two levels. First half of 5 tracks are more into psychedelic techno earlier popular as tech trance, and other half is more night progressive with last track signed as dub step feeling.
It start with massive bassline track "Growing Iceberg" who break ice and continue with amazing electro disco feeling driver "Death In Discotheque", which was as a massive and pleasant surprise for me from Opsy, as I never hear this kind of style from him. Actually that's what i like the most with this guy. You can't be sure whats next will come, but you can be sure it will be huge Let's go on. Now with this track "Proper Language", track remixed based on original from German duo ALIC from Digital Diamonds label, Opsy revile his remixing skill and turn this track in to proper club stomper. Fantastic! "Big Fat Zero", I was so curious with this one when I read track title for the first time and my expectations coincide with track name. Angry and aggressive techno blaster. One of the best on album, no question and the best lift up moment in track for sure! Music For The Masses vocal is a pure poison! With "Control Tower" we came to my favorite on album. Concrete groove and flying leads creates an atmosphere that I can't describe with the words. I had a chance to hear his live and this track on the dance floor and all I can say is WOW!!! Actually double WOW!!! those 5 minutes I will hold for my self, I am sorry!
"Logatone" track by Serbian progressive duo, Ectima, with this remix is lifted up on much higher level! "Dig A Hole" haaaaaaaahahaha, I don't know about you ppl, but whoever had a interest in Opsy's earliest works I believe he knows about track Dig A Hole. Looks like it's not coincidence, why his made a new improved album version of this track. Legendary track with outstanding new version! As Opsy like to bring bassline to the lowest possible freq, "Dungeon" shows one of those moments. Very rhythmic and layered track. pure TNT! I know that Opsy usually cooperate with Excizen, so remix for ManMachine was not surprising that much as much that he decided to do for ManMachine, not for Excizen. If you know what I mean
Pump, massive, melodic. Probable the most melodic track win which Opsy was involved Hats and percussion are the best in this track I would say. End of album signed with already mentioned dubstep feeling track "Rubber Duck". I love the name of track so much. I can notice a Kanc Cover's ambient influence in here but with those rubbing basslines it's definitely Opsy work. I don't know is it me or theme from this track is similar with funeral theme lol. after main break moment in this song blows me a way literally.
All in all this album is 9/10. And only reason why I give 9 is to leave a place for next album which I consider to be marked with pure 10!
Can't wait to see you on stage again bro! You are sight for sore ears!
