So - I lost nearly everything late last Thursday when my apartment burnt up. Salvaged my laptop (apparently, Macbook Pros are fireproof. I am more than slightly impressed with this thing right now).

Anyways - I'd like to see this as an opportunity to start fresh. I don't need (and can't really afford) BETTER equipment, but I'd love to try DIFFERENT stuff. So, what might you replace the following lost items with? Any suggestions?

2x Adam A7 monitors - around $1800. Loved them, but would consider switching models for kicks

Apogee Duet interface - around $500 - this one could use an upgrade, maybe in the $700 range? Some more I/O would be cool...

Novation SL MKII midi keyboard - around $500 - hmmm... LOVE the LED screan, but I could try something different. Akai stuff looks cool?

Akai APC40 - err, nothing else does the stuff it does. Guess I'll get another!

Rhode NTK tube microphone - around $700 - amazing mic, but would consider changing it up.

Korg Monotron (circuit-bent) - around $60 + $20... but I'd consider another cool analog toy in the <$800 range.

So? Any ideas?           Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. ~Kurt Vonnegut

Wow that sucks man, sorry to hear about it. At least you were able to salvage the Macbook and you were OK! I can't comment on some of this stuff but as far as Akai MIDI controllers, I use an MPK49 and I love it, it's sturdy and has plenty of knobs and sliders. I used 2 M-Audio Oxygen series controllers and they were total trash, they kept breaking. The action is good enough on the MPK for me but honestly most MIDI controllers seem to have fairly shitty action anyway unless you're looking to spend a whole lot more. I paid around $300 for mine. Anyway, I hope stuff goes better for you man and your journey to acquire your studio back isn't too bad! Much love, Amp.

Whoa, sorry to hear that, glad you're ok.

Get the Adams A7X not the A7 , mine cost $1400... Not 1800 and I think they are the best in their price range. Very surprised to see how good they translate to other systems, now tested on several systems from car to hifi to 25k rig...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

very sorry to hear, eevryone's nightmare hope you get things sorted quick.

i don't know the other gear you mentioned, but the monotron is a waste of money imo. rubish.

in that price range there are topday many analogs. maybe something like the mopho, or something from mfb (nanozwerg etc) or from dopefer (dark energy).
people will give you more options i am sure.

It leave me fucking impressed too! For me i never tought this, my mbp overheating induce meto think i may be cause of the fire himself!!

Any burndown it's fucking sd 2 hear mate!sorry 4 this

I would have changed the microphones in the list u made, but it depends on what do you record
rode mics are quiet good but has a natural shelf on hi freq tht makes them sometimes hard to tame when comes to "ss" in the vocals!
for the same £ you can get a tlm neumann or another large diaphragm mic like AT or a wide range of dynamic mics           http://mystic-sound.com/releases/ioon-cosmic-downtempo-9314-oclock/
