i nearly always use a quadrafuzz on both kick and bass. i just do some basic eq (cut everything below ~30hz/cut highs over ~10khz for kick and over ~2khz for bass), then add a quadrafuzz to both. just open them up and adjust them so kick and bass match together and have enough power. now this depends strongly on your kick sample and bass synth.
