Hello there...
I would appriciate any opinions from users of the Creamware Scope products.Especially the synths like minimax, prodyssey and the modulation plugins (chorus, delays).
I am planning to make a purchase for my studio.I am either going for a dsp that has potential on producing several kinds of quality sounds or hit the Moog little phatty (dedicated but wonderfull).
Any opinions on this?
Thanks..............

I'm a Scope fanatic as well...have been since it came out.
The bass sound you can get from the synths is what I miss most if I have to produce without my Scope card.
Here is a track of mine using Adern Flexor for the bass, and their kick-me for the kick:

The included FX is IMO not bad but not that great either.
I have the Sonic Timeworks pack to get really good EQ, reverb and compressor.
When it comes to delay I tend to mostly use VST's instad since find it hard to find one that I really like on Scope.
But you can make your own delays with the modular for some very nice wacky results with a bit of work.
Vocal filter in the feedback chain is one of my favorites.

i actualy love tthe included fx...
reverb of very high quality, especially for mega long drones.
phasers, choruses, flangers come in a number of varitions.
decimators, pitch shifters... everything is high end.
i use a lot of vst fx as well, but a lot of the scope stuff too. tremendous combination to have the scope sound along with the vsts.
the modular system is the highlight for me. Modular III and the upcoming adern FlexorII modules... drool.
if you become really devoed to the system, you will find its more than "is this plug good" type of thing... its a way of life

Thanks people...
The truth is I don't want the creamware for dynamics/eqs or reverb as i have a poco with vss3 and sony oxfords on it.I am on my way on buying something that can produce nice bass sounds for progressive trance/electrotrance music.
I own a virus ti which i am going to sell cause , tell me crazy, i don't like its sounding at all.I was thinking of buying a moog little phatty but a friend of mine told me to have a look on creamware's products as I will be more flexible with a dsp like that...

yea a real mini will cost you a fortune to buy plus upkeep, doesnt make any sense at all.
can you make your own synths with the scope platform? ive seen the DSP/developement part of the creamware forums but i dont exactly get how that works as far as making your own synths.
is that extra to buy above the scope platform? |

well first there is the modular of course, this comes with may synthesis modules as well as addon module packs by third parties you can buy, and some free modules from SDK developers (see below)... with the modular system you can already pretty much make anything.... in planet z check my own pack, hundreds of patches in there.
then there is the Scope SDK available to people who own a scope proffesional card... with this you can create your own devices for the platform and you get it for free BUT you must sign a "non disclosure agreement" with cw and you can only give plugs you make for free.
the third option is the ScopeDP wich is similar to the SDK, only costs a lot of money, and with this licanse you can sell plugs you make for the platform.. afaik the ScopeDP is no longer avilable for new costumers at all.

In order to start making your own plugs n modules u have to get hold of the sdk program. You can apply to creamware company to get it but I think u have to be a scope professional owner and it might be free...(Im not sure...!).
To irrational impulse:
Its a hell of a soundcard mate..!
If u are willing to devote time on getting into it(ok some time for troubleshooting as well:p) I say go for it.
I have been using a scope pro for several months now and it seems Im well addicted to it!I just love it I dont know what I would do without it!:)
The thing with it is that you can spend money on it forever..There is flexor, solaris(this synth is on the top of my list) minimax,pro1 modular 3..and the story goooees....
Then of course u might want to get converters...for more outs/ins...Then some more money there...Then.. then.. then..
It depends on you how far you wanna get really..There are lots of things you can buy on top..
The basic modulation effects are pretty basic..Nothing fancy interface-wise,but they do their job well..Dont forget you can get LOTS of freewares.check planetz .(some people have done amazing work!)
The routing abilities provide ultimate flexibility.. and its mixer is just awesome! This does not mean that it is an easy soundcard to handle but rather that is a generaly able card. Also it is a very good platform that you can LEARn lots and lots of things that will make you better..
The stability of the card is a tricky issue..Idealy you need the correct motherboard with the appropriate chipset and cpu combination..Even graphix card makes a difference..For that you can hung around planetz forums and consult some of the geeks down that road..There are some people that will know..
Good luck:)

well, the nice thing about them is you can always attach up to 3 cards to each other to form a system that utilizes the dsp of all 3 cards... i myself have a scope proffesional and home attached.
scope home will only introduce you and give you a basic idea of the platform, but it is still a good option as it provides the same technology as the others. the dsp on it is limited, but you can always upgrade with more cards and just attach.
for an actual start at some of the nicer things the platform has to offer though, get at least a scope project...
if you have the funds and feel like you are going to get deep into it, and would like also an assortment of plugs buy a scope proffesional. nice amount of dsp + cw now bundle almost all thier plugs (3rd party stuff you still need to buy) with it.

well well... creamware.
i had nice love story with them , but its over..
great preformance
great fx
great synths
shity interface - not friendly at all
so all in all.. may be worth to bother realize the full potential and try it out if u can.. i fond their routing very annoying , tho necesery.
today im happy with my m-audio that function like normal soundcard and i dont have to do anything exept change the volume at night.

what is annoying about the routing?
you get full control, what other system lets you fo instance use a midi merge tool to let you control a plugin with two dif midi controllers?
i think for people that have owned just a scope home, its hard to judge the platform, because with 3 dsp you get such a small fraction of the capabilities.
