Toshiba Laptop Satellite P4 1.8Mhz with VxPocket v2. It's doesn't have the lowest latency, but it is stable like a german beetle and it sounds great.           "a new art came into my mind which only you can create, the Art of Noises, the logical consequence of your marvelous innovations." The DELL inspiron series is really stable laptops for audio.

I use it with a magma PCIMCIA-PCI expander with a pulsar card in it, wich seems to be a quite demanding setup. Magma recommended the DELL's to me to be sure it worked well.

Thats a very good thing do actually.
Decide first what sequencer and soundcard you are planning to use. Then contact the manufacturer of the hardware, and ask what brands they tested that sequencer and card on, and which of those they recommend.
That can save you a lot of hassle, and most of the time, the people making soundcards for laptops know what machines is good for audio at the moment.

Mine is the completly out of date 8100 866mhz and still working just fine for me, but I heard that people using the newer models have been equally satisfied.

Hello everyone,

I am wondering mainly by people who own laptops, what model is yours and are you happy with the performance?

I was thinking of just getting a Mac however now i am considering the possibility of a pc or Pentium laptop.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Like the most recent and fast model?

I have looked at Acer, in particular the ferrari model looked very specy, and also a model called millenia, however i am interested in your input from a producer point of view. For me it will mainly be for audio/video production,

Thanks people,

Matt

Robably because Cubase is much more complicated and demanding in resources than FL.

Maybe it's obvious, but check that use the same audio driver. There are also setting in cubsae for disk cache that you might need to change. Cubase is heavier then FL, but it's still shouldn't be half the performence.

i would highly recommend getting a Dell laptop, a good friend from a computer firm recommended this as the best option for a solid ,reliable laptop.apparently these are the only laptops they will work with.i know mine has been great so far.

second choice would be a toshiba. make sure you get decent specs, meaning a good processor and a good amount of hard disk space. always try to consult with a professional too before buyin if you can.
i actually saw a few dell inspiron notebooks at a very nice price lately, around 6500 nis.

good luck dude
