This might be a stupid question, but are you copying the audiofiles with the project?           *In AjmaGard We Trust*

Go to File ---> Copy Project to new folder.
It will copy it all into a new folder for you with all your files in it.           https://www.djjeto.com

There's also an 'export pool' command. Does this have a different function from the copy project command?

Don't export the pool... It's a slightly complicated thing to do properly. What you need to do to your original project is this:

1) If you're using Battery or Kontakt or any other VSTi that loads samples of any kind, save the kit or multi into the project folder making sure you save the samples and not just the patch information. There should be options in the Save menus for this.

2) Select "Save Project to New Folder" from the File menu. This will create a copy of the project in a new folder - including ALL the audio files used in the project, no matter where they are in the original project.

3) Go to your original project folder and copy all the other files and folders that you might need on the new machine (.fxps, mixer settings, Battery or Kontakt sample folders and patch files saved in #1 above, etc.) into the folder you created in #2 above.

4) This new folder should now contain everything you need to load on the new machine. Test it by quitting SX and starting it again, reloading the new project into the sequencer. Battery or Kontakt, for example, might complain and say they can't find the samples - this is normal. Point the VSTis at the right folders so that they load their samples from the new project.

4) Once the new project has loaded succesfully, save it under a new name in the new project folder. Quit SX and load it again to test. There's no point in getting to the new PC only to find it doesn't load properly!

5) Once you're sure the project loads completely from the new folder, you can burn it to CD or DVD.

Is there a specific/easy step for copying presets etc? this has gotten annoying when copying SX vs. 3rd party presets which often get auto-stored in different locations. This is particularly annoying for Reaktor.           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604

Presets used in a project are stored in the project file (.CPR) and don't normally need to be reloaded. If you want to make certain, you need to separately save out all the presets you use into the project folder, making sure you give them all names that will help you remember which VSTi they're for!           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

When Storing a preset using "save preset" (as an *.xml file) it is saved in the administrator aplication data folder, which you can access also from your cubase\nuendo folder (theres a file called: open_cubasesx3_application_data_folder.exe)
But, the better option is like Colin said (saving as *fxb files). In this case I would also recommend having presets folder for each vst you use.
As for the Reaktor everytime you open the ensemble it askes you to define the autosave folder. So you just have to make sure you know where it saved...
