Urban Monkeys have been the big buzz word in the Australian outdoor party scene for the past 12 months so it is with great excitement that we announce their official debut Melbourne live show.
Anyone who saw them play at the monday renegade at RSF this year will know what to expect - MASSIVE, FUNKY TOUGHNESS! This is dancefloor mayhem at its best!
We are just glad to have these guys before they explode internationally and we never see them again - dont miss it!
If this wasnt enough we are also exteremely proud to announce the debut live set for one of the most inspirational and popular characters in the Australian scene, Andrew Davidson (aka Suncontrolspecies) with his new side project WOMBAT.
The wombat track - Ride Control - on the first Open Records comp (Slow Release) was a worldwide smash hit attracting countless remix requests from major acts such as Behind Blue Eyes.
Expect the unexpected from the WOMBAT project but always incorporating Drew's trademark production and emotive flair. This one will be talked about for a while!
Also playing are Open Records DJs Suspekt, Motive, Gavin Martin and Woodsman.
Cairns selekta Jesse Kuch aka Suspekt is credited for compiling both Open Records releases along with brotherman Ian Woodsman and is the brains behind Open Records. Jesse is reknown for his deep and slinky techno and progressive sets. Seamless mixing along with sneaky surprises are his forte and will no doubt feature strongly on the night. Let the depth reign supreme!
Motive is a regular feature in the Melbourne scene and plays a deep blend of progressive house, trance and electro always with a tilt towards the massive side. His set will feature a punch on between him and Jesse as to who plays what tracks.
Gavin Martin needs no introduction. One of Melbourne's favorite sons, Gavin has consistantly delivered the goods to Aussie and overseas crowds for the past the past ten years. Flawless mixing style and a incredible knowledge of his music are standard and this gig celebrates his debut cd release for his project GMJ on the FESTIVUS comp. Many more are sure to follow.
Woodsman is Ian Young, the staunchest individual of them all. A true brother to all who know him, his set will include the biggest deepest minimal this side of Mordor. Ian is also responsible along with Jesse Suspekt for compiling the FESTIVUS compilation. Pumped to have him on board.
