Is the open air party culture in the UK fading away.......is the age old tradition of the peace loving dancers fading into oblivion by the cruel acts of the government......can't there be given a place for the people to dance and rejoice !
I admit there r open air parties in UK...but the festive culture that has to be there is not found in UK. Probably one needs to go to SA, Greece, India, Australia and Germany to have a ball of a time in a festival.
Maybe, I hope come this summer, we will see some good acts and events !

Let the culture of the heavenly Gods be Alive !

yalla wilson

so, there are a few open air and free parties around in the uk.. you just need to keep your ear to the ground and hang around on places like this forum and you will hear about them

of course we don't have many in the middle of january.. for reasons that are probably quite clear to you up in coventry right now

but last summer there were a number of good outdoor free prties, notably the liquid connective 3 (?) dayer and the magikana festival in wales.. fingers crossed that this year sees more promoters willing to risk it in the great outdoors           >>love will tear us apart...<<

yeah we get lots of free parties down the west country - summer's great down here - often there is at least a couple of psy-parties a month - Tribe of Frog being the main culprits:)
dont think you'll see anything festival wise on account of us not being allowed to have any fun in this country, but that means we have to goto Europe - which aint a bad thing!!!!!

me thinks the outdoot season is much a live... last year we saw quite a number of outdoor psychedelic events and this year i believe more and more people are charged up for it. certainly the government and their out of date rules didn't stop anyone, if anything a big thankyou to the authorities who did a lot to help last year.

this year quite a few are already arranged - liquid 3rd birthday for the luna eclispe on friday 16th may. i believe a party 2 weeks before is going on to raise money for friends of the earth too. we are also putting on a 3 day psychedelic festival later in the summer with an amazing line-up. also - may 31st we're heading to scotland for the annular solar eclispe. also, some of the larger uk record labels are thinking more and more of going outside.

it's going to be good one.

Theres a lot of outdoor parties round Sheffield come the summer as theres lots of good spots in the country near by and the police have normally (touch wood) been alright - although the music does tend toward acid techno & hard trance with occasional house systems rather than psy-trance.

But it interesting that there are no big commercial parties like you find on the continent - I think last big alternative dance thing was the Megadog beach festival a good few years back. Although there s a lot to be said for free parties - there are things (like line up etc) that only really comes with an organised festival. But I think UK Health & safety regs & licensing regs are so strict that it is pretty major task to put one on.. and with our weather... its a big gamble

But either way you cannot beat dancing outside when the sun comes up (where as I find a warehouse or club the last place I want to be come mid morning...)

a question for liquid ross:

you said that this year's 3 day gathering has an amazing line up. Can u give any details? the last 3 day liquid connective was one of the best weekends of my life. it was cool chatting to cosmosis (i forget his name) about making music. If this year you could get simon posford to play, I'd be the happiest person on the planet.

thanks,

oli
