"Silence" is one of the best goa/psy tunes I've ever heard. It totally blew me away when it came (it still does).
I love it

154 bpm, if I remember correctly. All the drums and samples were out of an Ensoniq sampler with only two outputs so there was no EQ on individual sounds possible. The track was written in one single night betwen about 10pm and 8am and polished a couple of days later with the lads when I'd had a bit of sleep. The sound at the beginning is a recording of a frisbee being spun round on its edge on a plastic table, slowed down a few octaves and with shitloads of reverb on it from the sampler. If my memory serves me, the TB303 is doing double-duty on that track, having been sampled for the bassline and being controlled by Cubase for the acid lines.
Um... heh... sorry... I went off on one there...

I've been thinking about remixing it 21st century style for a while now. What do you reckon - is 154 bpm too fast for the kids these days? I don't want the track to lose energy in the remix.

154 is not too fast at all. But, what are you gonna change? I mean, that tune is the way it's supposed to be. I don't want ut to turn up like the 2000 remix of MWNN's Teleport.... you know?

If anything the remix would be more a re-engineering. The original was a pure-MIDI mixdown, with no digital audio at all, through an old analog desk with a single digital delay guitar pedal as the only external effect for all the synths. I'd like to hear what it would sound like with sample-accurate percussion, properly mixed and with some decent effects. I agree, the original is pretty damn good (at least, I'm very proud of it) and I wouldn't want to change the arrangement at all. I reckon I could get pretty damn close to the original sounds with VSTis as well... I think it would sound great!
