On my mission to make this world a better place, I decided that letting people read some Robert Frost would be a good start. Some of the best American poetry ever - and usually without complex language.

The works of Edgar Allen Poe are some of the most powerful short stories - famous as the first (and probably the best) horror writer of all times, also a 'must read'

Oscar Wilde is another favorite of mine since I read The Picture of Dorian Gray a while ago. His works are available at:
http://www.planetmonk.com/wilde/
but Oscar Wilde is probably more famous for his quotes than his writings, so those would be available here:
http://www.quotationspage.com/quotes/Oscar_Wilde/
from which I'll quote the best way to sum up this thread: "But what is the difference between literature and journalism? ...Journalism is unreadable and literature is not read. That is all. "

wow thanks for these links kaz! always wanted to red "the raven" in its original language (did you know that it took him ten years to finish it?) and it's great. poe's stories and poems are so intense...very special style of rhymes and very frightening sometimes.
i have never heard of frost before, but it seems pretty cool. he writes about my interests...forests, fears, etc.
tis just genious, and nothing more
