dudez i just want u'r opinion on this thought which came up when i was thinking about making musik :D
See when we are listening to musik .. on a system .. the musik sound diffrent at different angels : i mean like if u are sittin down on the left or right side of the speaker it sound "just a little different" from if u standing right in from of of speaker : and the best effect iz if u are in the best position "the cone where the right and the left come together - the middle " . this iz according to me and many of u must have seen the difference u'r position makes . i guess.
now the thing iz when we are makin musik we are genrally sittin down at an angle to the " cone " . does this somehow hamper in the quality of sound :the small adjustment we have to make 2 the knobs so the soundz dont interfere with each other! : ( obviously really good quality headphones would solve the whole problem) but somehow musik on a decent system soundz totally different than head phones : (it somehow iz , cant explain :ya: ) . so pls answer ma funny question , cause its buggin me.
does this difference somehow effect the eventual product?
peace out

im no sound expert but one thing i know for sure...it is extremely important to have good monitors and the placement is important:
1. they have to be at your ear level (hight).
2. the length between the two speakers should be the same length that you are sitting from each speaker.
this is the optimal way to listen to a mix. it effects the final production dramatically because if you are not hearing the "true" sound then you wont be able to create a clean production. |

I've worked as a sound engineer in the uk for a few years now, and although I spend a lot of time at home programming through my headphones (pan and delay automation are good examples), I'd always prefer to do my final mix through a decent pair of speakers. Try to get speakers with a "flat" response (studio standards are Yamaha NS 10's), most hifi speakers have a low frequency boost (to make bland pop tunes sound better??). Also, the distance between you and the speakers should be about 1 metre, at head height. Try give the speakers a bit of distance from the wall behind them too, putting your speakers in the corner may look nice, but you create extra bass behind the back of the speakers.
Hope this helps |
