Choose 4 (or more) different reverbs (e.g. one for drums, a small, a medium and a long one) and spread them over your tune (as a send effect).           http://soundcloud.com/seamoon

A reverb changes a sound in a rather notable way, so to make the reverb fit the sound/mix I almost never use the same reverb on different sounds. but i guess Seamoons advice is ok too.

Putting reverb on a send channel will save you a good amount of cpu. Although you may want to have a diff reverb for diff sounds, I've been told to not make a lot of variations in your reverb settings because it throws the whole mix off.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

look for cosmosis's second or third video conference (the one with laughing buddha. some valuable infos on reverb in there.

it comes down to having about 2-4 send fx with different reverbs and use them for all tracks.           Most of my music for you to download at:

It depends really... I often use ultra short reverbs as a kind of Chorus/Stereo-widener that basicly fucks up the resonance of the sound in a weird kinda way while making it sound warmer etc. and this really requires different tweaking on each sound in order to avoid a complete soundmess.

But, when it comes to bigger open normal reverbs I agree that You should'nt use too many different types at the same time. -Mostly anyway...

Your emulating a space with reverb, so having a send makes it everything is in that same space; though certain instruments create their own reverb within themselves.           www.wizanda.com www.soundcloud.com/wizanda

I have 2 reverbs on send effects, 1 short with a predelay that implies a groove and the other one quite long with a lot of high end taken off for background sounds.

Then I use individual reverbs on tracks when something out of the ordinary is required.

My style is quite dry compared to most trance.

Someone is enjoying the "millionare" life of computer music In the past, you would need to buy a reverb effect - mostly you would have 2. And if you're a reverb guy, then 3.

I don't use more than 2 really. Basically I like the mix to have a unified space, depends on you of course. It doesn't say that I don't EQ before the reverb - which can change reverb sound alot, though kept in the same space.
A method: I can create 4 midway-send channels which have different EQ settings. Then each channel is sent on to the same reverb unit/channel. This method also saves CPU, although that might not be an issue nowadays. This is of course instead of having 4 different reverbs.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

I don't do that anymore, but my computer is fast enough to apply reverbs wherever I need them...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:
