And i think it's a bit too much of you and indeed direspectful to call me a one hit wonder when I am one of the longest remaining artists in this scene and still manage to release music that do not sound like anybody else. I might not make music that's your taste but I certantly have my own unique sound and is far from being a one hit wonder... If I was I would be done and gone a long time ago!
And there's many people out there that like and love my music too. I am surely not a one hit wonder to them! |

a one hit wonder is someone who had fame with one tune and never again with any other track or album...in pop music we have thousands of them, almost every summer hit is made by a "one hit wonder".
concerning this i dont think its possible to call Shpongle or Elysium Project a one hit wonder, because they had great success with pretty all their releases to pretty much all the buyers.
so i think we should stay professional here and not make a list with artists we personally only liked for one night. this will lead to a fight i guess (it has already started i guess).
Other than that, we should point out artists that werent really interesting for the mayority of the crowd after one huge success. it's rather difficult to point these out imo, because we do not often use statistics in our scene which show which artist had how much success.
my cents

Slinky Wizard were the ones i could never found a full lenght CD did they actually put it out?.in the late ninneties. at the same time i wouldn't classified them like a one hit wonders they didn't seem like they were for some reason they were everywhere but just as single songs o songs for compilations released by distance-blue room-dragon fly etc etc....
even paul oakenfold spun slinky wizard.

Traveller, I disagree with your choises, though the topic is quite cool.
The question is of course do we apply only our personal taste, or we're trying to have some objective criteria.
Elysium had quite a few amazing tracks- actually all of Celestial Sounds and Tribal Beats is great in my opinion and quite a few other tracks. Not counting on personal taste, I can say that there were quite a few Elysium tracks that were hits on the dancefloor.
As for Moksha- I suggest you widen your scope a bit beyond Kum Haras. Live at the Goa Gaja is one long masterpiece that was way ahead of it's time, and survived splendidly. There are other Moksha wonders around.
And a thing you ought to know about Kum Haras is that a couple of the tracks there have got mixed up- so the artist you see is not the real artist, and one of the tracks got totally mixed up with a track that is not on the album at all. I think the 2 tracks you mention here are involved... Jorg has a huge heart but is not the most organized person in the world ;-) The CD is still great.
A lot of other mentioned here won't fit in for me as well.
So what can I add...
mmm... let's think...
First that jumps to mind is Yellow Dwarfs' No Musician from Full On 2- still sounds great, but nothing else really came from these guys.
I agree about Soul Pitcher- 3 great tracks and gone...
There's also the question of Private Taste- these guys produced a mega master hit and that was it. I wonder why...
There's many more, I'm sure... but for that I will have to go through my CDs- maybe when I have some free time (in 5 years from now... maybe...).

Not really a one-hit-wonder because you see this project every now and then on compilations, but one of my favourites of the last few years is the self-titled album by Zorba. If i had to pick a top-ten or whatever, this one would probably be in it.

Talking about one-hit-wonders, whatever happened to that 'Elephant Man'? He just did that one great movie and you never saw him again!

Hackers- a side project of Hayden Strom of Antix, and Callum McNaught, released one track called "Hitchcoke Babe", on the compilation Solar Seeds in 2001 that I really loved.
Engage- released a track called "Boogie Mama" on VA- The Third Encounter (Green Ant) and then ?????
