I have suddenly undestood a couple of seconds ago that NI Battery is a multi-out plug-in and I have never used it as a multi-out plug-in. I always spawn a new instance of battery for each percussion pattern, eg, kick, snare, hihats etc.
Do you use Battery or another sampler in multi-out mode? What benefits does it give, compared to multiple instances?
Just curious

multi-out is cool since you can put another effect on each of them ... and it saves CPU load, too.
it also makes sense to group samples to one output, if they're similar ... eg: hi-hats. http://www.myspace.com/realtimeproject |

another benefit would be ... more overview
no need to remember in which battery you've put which sample.
also: you can remote them from one MIDI track (or many, if you're used to that way).

It makes it messy having loads of different samples running from a multi spamler to different outputs (imo), so I might end up with 2 or maybe even 3 battery instances holding few loops/beats/rhythms each. (also, I must admit that since I've upgraded to Quad core, the CPU is never a problem ) |

I guess thtas why battery is multi out....what i do when i use battery is setup battery and route it to the channel i need, then save it as template so the next time i want to use battery i dont have to route channels.
I setup battery for 2 stereo and 10 mono outs (i dont use the stereo out). I always thought using more than 1 battery pointless but that its my point of view |

@Saii: In ableton :
-create multi outs in the battery plugin if needed (I think that the default is only stereo output, but I'm not at home right now to check it)
- in Live : add audio tracks and in the "audio from" selector choose the individual outputs of battery. choose "monitor in" for each audiotrack you've created...
Or ... use Ableton's own drum rack, which is easier, faster, and more integrated in Live's workflow thant setting up multi-batteries and there respective audiotracks. |

i agree.. if using ableton live, its much easier and faster to use drum rack...
i donno but for me when using battery for drums, i cant tune the kick properly with the bass.. its like its skipping a few notes at a time when using the tune knob.
anyone have this same issue?
In ableton drum rack i can just move the notes up and down and i get a perfect match |
