Well looking at the vid its just aweseome. Real step sequencing, great new unison mode, 200 wavetables from harsh to analogue warmt. Sample import Really, this replaces everything except the creativity you get from an one knob per function desktop analog.
The new granular sounds deep as well, was not that good before at all. Alchemy wont be missed
I can kick everything except for the occasional keys in kontakt, percussion and orchestral stuff.
Drone, ambient, any edm, film, vintage synth. The 3000 presets is not the best thing about it but since a lot is EDM style that virus is no longer interesting, or any other VA is needed.

Well i am a proud owner of camel audio alchemy , I Don't know if i am raving about omnisphere's new improvement ! But now they stole a bit the glory of alchemy ! features what is not new for me ! i must say omisphere is a monster but to pay 400 euro for some little adjustment , I stick with the alchemy still have fun with i keep my money in my pocket |

Omnisphere put's true meaning into word workhorse, anyone starting out should take it and forget about everything else, sure we have so much things out these days and I understand until now many got variety of tools and they are pretty much covered, but for the others this is no brainier at this point, also who seeks something to limit himself and be productive, this is just thing for that, like OP said, it almost covers everything.

Was looking at this and drooling yesterday.
They fixed almost EVERYTHING that was an issue with Omnisphere - I'm ridiculously impressed. New filter types, better granular, wavetables, audio import, FM and ringmod redesign, arppeggiator now has control of pitch...
Like, everything I wanted them to fix, they fixed.
