I'm looking for kicks sound like old goa productions (Necton, BPC etc.). I made it on MS-20- sounds nice, but without capacity. Bassism- too "modern". Kick "People can Fly" like- too long.
Sample from KorgDrum pack (BPC- Hemo Static & Overbloody Flood from Blueprint for Survival) with TLS-Pocket Limiter VST sounds great, but using one kick sample to all tracks... I think, it's not for me.
Should I use layering or sth? I tried, alltough sounds so crappy (808 & 909).

for me 909 is definitely the way to go for oldschool sounding kicks. there are quite a few sample packs with various 909 style kicks on the web, you'll surely find some good ones. myself, i haven't had any luck with finding the right processing for the 909 emulator synths, so it's all samples for me

you can also look up the 909/goa-kick tutorial by cosmosis. you can get pretty close to the oldschool sound that way.

bpc is mostly 808 and 909 as far as i can hear, but if you find any way to make a necton-like kick, please share the recipe here, i've tried for ages to get that sound but haven't had luck so far.

@up- if you're looking for good TR emulation, try Drumazon from d16.pl - it's one of best virtual 909 emulations.

I've got Stomper v.5.0.- sounds budding, alltough any try with filter parameters changing causes pure silence... Maybe this version is crushed or doesn't collaborate with W7.

909 are good but i doubt it s 909 you are after, or it s heavily processed maybe layered

Give the Roland Sh 101 selfmade kick a chance for oldschool.
If you don`t have one, here is a link for a lot of oldschool drum-machines including drum sounds of a sh101:

with zebra , massive ,largo ...you can make good goa kicks with almost any synths it s mostly the pitch sweep that is not as fast / more linear curve than usual full on kick to get stronger second harmonic power. zebra is so versatil you can make all sort of kick with it, give it a try it may just lack the density/depth of some hardware.
sometimes fx are used to make it sound different too

you can also experiment with using a one shot sine lfo retrigered to change the envelop(s) pitch sweep

I would go after it with Zebra...

Was getting some nice oldschool kicks today with its XMF filter.

It has a built in knob called "click" which provides an impulse for instant self oscillation (given a high enough resonance of course)

now use an envelope to tweak the cutoff and try a bunch of the different envelope settings (linear, slope)

I've been using Bazzism for the longest time but I'm kinda thinking that I might be switching to Zebra after today's tweaking...            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe
