Hi guys!
Firstly sorry a bad english...
Actually I´m starting to know Oldie Goa Trance...like Juno Reactor, Etnica, Astral Projection...

But for me is a bit hard to know what it is characterizes the style...and I wanna make something like this..

I can listen multi-layered disctinct leads, sometimes a "ultra-spaced" hats with delays..a lot of organic percussion with a very dry reverb...
and smooth very-repetitive basslines...and a lot of Reverb/Delay...without the "new" effects like phaser, flanger, and others that manipulate the pitch of sound...

and i ask, for help me in this new Journey...what characterizes that kind of sound ?

I find some artist of "neo-goa"..like Ajja, Filteria...this second is more similar with the oldies..but in the Juno Reactor style, what artist you recommend?

Thank you
All the best
Natan

can be something really fast like 155 bpm or so..
lots of 303`s so alien303 (lol)is needed(or 303 samples)
more percs than usual could help..hmm
..could add some little delay to the openhats to add fastness to the track =D (not to much cuz it will overload the track)
acidic sequences..rude notes on the melodies.

goa gil for more info hehe           Greetings Earthlings!

Not any faster than 140 bpm, in older days below 130 bpm.

Should be hypnotic.

See Tsabis post for instruments...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

hey psychowave.. from my experience the kick makes the whole track.. this should help:

http://forum.isratrance.com/old-goa-kick-how-can-i-build-it/

this emphasized weak sounding kick was probably taken from the rolanad tb 909 drum machine back in the days.. as for leads you should check out vanguard, dsp disco discovery, pro 53, abl bassline..
hope this helps!!! ~Peace & Good Luck!!

Sure enough, he was there in the beginning.
What he played then was oldie goa trance, not what he plays now...           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

I don´t like so much what the goa gil plays today...
and for sure, is not like the old goa trance...here in Brazil, in your last gig...He play a sound more like a darktrance...fast suomisaundi...very fast, with a lot of noise, and without melodies and harmony...

I prefer the more slow stuff like upavas said...

more slow, and hypnotic

this weekend I will try make something and i post here or in the workshop session...

more tips are so welcome!

thank you
