offline processing preview in cubase 4

could a cubase 4 user help me with this.
the routing configuration changed in cubase4 and i can't manage to preview offline processing plugins.
i tried several possible ways, to have a monitor channel in the control room, deactivate the control room...
it worked once or twice but for no reasons then no more.
it's not clear (for me now) what channel uses this preview thing.
And i checked the manual... for a while.
ps :: i know cubase4 is supposed to have some bugs.. for now it works fine, installed couple of days ago... hope this issue isn't a stupid bug.
one more question maybe, i installed the update to 4.1 and in the about menu, it still shows me 4.0.1... hmm, any special manipulation should be tried ? .. didn't try much longer ... always, install, fix, try.. blablabla

I think its better you post it in the Cubase Forum..or did you already?the problem with 4.01 instead of 4.1 has been already discussed and solved there..but couldn`t find it anymore..

hi le barde,
this is a known bug in cubase 4 and ill tell when it happens and how to fix it.
it happens to all previews - both import audio and preview when: you have a channel in solo and you save your project.
what you have to do is simple -
1 deactivating SOLO on any tracks.
2 Save Project, then close project (no need to close Cubase)
3 Reopen project and audition is working again.

If none of the above solutions work, you can also try and make sure that your "studio channel" for monitoring has the same output at your main mix. I've had this happen before as well though. Can't remember what I did but I think that I just changed the output channel of the studio monitoring channel to the main output and it solved the problem.... Or I ended up doing what E-JEKT just described and didn't realize it. Good luck sir...

thanks for the answer guys.
damn.. what a stupid bug.
will check out the 4.1 upgrade thing, and hope it's solved there... or soon.
it's expensive enough to not have to spend time with such things.
i tried to route either on the main mix or thru the studio or monitor bus in the control room... that didn't make it.
and if a monitor channel (control room) is connected to the same output as the main-mix in the outputs.. then the signal is sent twice.

yeah.. just read cubase forum.
this update thing is supposed to come because microsoft installer isn't on my music computer.
