^^ yep people are more interested on self promotion or promotion 
althought we try to change that direction the truth is that a lot of people only think in promotion
for example people have one relese and the 1st thing they ask is for blue status.
i believe people think it is better to be blue in the forum, than a real artist on the road.

overpromoting your self is something that annoys me as well,but as far as someone is doing his thing good(either he is a dj or an artist) then i dont see where is the wrong in promoting yourself decently..for example,i am going to release my first track soon,and i had my thoughts about becoming blue as well.but i dont se it as a "vanity" matter,but more like a help in my A+R activities for headstick

Lol you and I both know why some people insist on being "blue"... It's all about the ladies and getting laid  I mean I seriously know people who just want to release one track that is visible on discogs so that they can put a label on their myspace or get the coveted blue status... And then they don't release anything for years afterwards no joke...

anyways, this forum has always been about self promotion.. and by the looks of it, it just got trendy to come here and promote themselves.
I am glad I am a bit off the scene now, because from what I have been listening we went from full on craze to morning/pussy/oh so beautiful/commercial psy, which, in my opinion, is cheesier than the good ol' clubby full on. But that's just me bitching as always
