sound is movement of air
as far i know there is no sound in space , not anything human can hear with just their ears , the air must move the little hairs etc.
does falling tree in empty forest makes sound? is there milions of people behind you every time you dont look?

thats the point my friend, isnt space a vaccum? in theory its impossible to it to have sound....but again, i think this are all theories, everything is possible, we think we know, but the truth is WE DONT NOW ANYTHING ABOUT THINGS OUT OF THE EARTH. Not so long ago we tought that the earth was a square...and then... so....

I have to say that there is no evidence this is true, and to be honest i think its pretty obvious its bullshit, space IS a vacuum so there are no air molecules to be vibrated to create sound, ESPECIALLY in our hearing range, what a coincedence.
There are, however, noises that do come from Jupiter but they are Radio Waves which can then be converted and "listened" to.

With regards to the "sound" being picked up by special devices on Voyager, then this ispossible, but Voyager wouldnt have picked up "sounds" it may have been that Voyager picks up the Radio Waves and then converts them into sound or sends the signals back to earth where scientists convert the radio waves into audible sounds, this i beleive to be far more plausible and actually takes place (see web sites above). So i think you "MIGHT" be listening to sounds of Jupiter but they certainly where not picked up in space sounding like that, its a scientific impossibility.

I once said at kvr forum that life can travel with sound, its deep and not that a humans rides on a sound wave, more that maybe we are soundwaves... our souls are strings that vibrate...
Though someone dismissed it real hard!

agree, it´s completely impossible that this is the sound of jupiter, cause we should not be able to "hear" the exactly sound. but we can see it 
i also totally agree that air is needed for us to receive vibrations as sound. anyway it´s not necessary for the sound to exist. fact is, that "sounds" (u just cant hear them) also move through vacuum space. otherweise we would be not able to communicate with cell phones and stuff like that. so the thing is imo that we cant hear a "sound" of jupiter as it is simply not possible. but we´re able to calculate a very exactly frequency of the one we´re able to see. so you just octavate(?) the frequency down or up in audible area. this way we can say it´s the exactly same tone at another frequency the jupiter i.e. is sounding.
any thing we LOOK at is sound, just the frequency is that high we can´t hear it . the reason why we have eyes. just to handle these higher frequencies. and so on with other parts of our body. all have their own frequency range receiving just to handle everything around us. and any creation in universe should be limited (as we think now to know) to special frequency ranges. normaly we should be able to comunicate with any thing we like in universe, cause everyhing´s comunicating through frequencies just in different ranges. animals and plants do like we do. so talking to a plant is much more than senseless, anyway we think talking to our pets is much more efficient.
so let´s say YES, there is sound, NO we can´t hear it....
BUT maybe something exists out there able to receive that, what we are only able to see. who knows. this will really maybe ever be a secret (in case of planets and space i mean!! cause we already know that dolphins hear what we see ). there are people out there believing to know (!) that dolphins are much more intelligent than we are, with their small, pea sized brain. they also think about that they try to talk to us for decades now. anyway, maybe gettin kinda strange now. BUT they do receive a much more complex and higher frequency range than we do. that is fact, what´s resulting from this......think about your own =D i think they should understand us, but we´re not able to understand them. scientists try to crack their language for years now since we know they comunicate by ultrasound. and believe me, it´s not only science interested in that, think about what that means for military industry. now this was years ago, we do this now already. we invented our own coding for it, anyway we´re still not able to crack the complexity of the dolphins language i.e. ..... think any one of us knows about difficults to crack human language, which is not even far similar in complexity. but we think it´s with the most complex in our natural AUDIBLE area.
fact is that we´re not using as enough of our brain to understand anything of that deeper as we completely defend our actual state of mind influenced by our physics teached at school. but they will have to reconsider their meanings about that all. there´s so much we dont understand and dont know anymore. most of us think that there is no way to understand things like time, space, vacuum, infinity. on the other side most of us believe that there were times, people on earth knew much more about this, but instead they knew nothing about a wheel. that is really strange imo.
i dont know if the book i mentioned exists in english, but the title should be something like "secret knowledge - the natural of the supernatural " by lyall watson. it´s really good imo, give it a try. he explains anything u maybe know as physical or mathematical intractable conflicts in very simple and easy way anyone should understand. and the whole book is about frequencies, what they do in our brain, what they do in cosm, it´s just simply all about frequencies. and this is just the reason why i think this one is very useful. for me i learned much more from this book about how sound effects us and how it works than in any other. wheither it was about music or science. anyway it´s not specific about music theory

i think this is possible to be true, as the dude said, it was picked with a special device on the voyager. Why is impossible to frequencies travel in space? OPEN YOUR MINDS, everything is possible, there isnt no ``single true``, they are all theories and speculations, we dont have knowledge and technology yet to say whats possible and whats not out there in space. And i read somewhere that you can pick theses sounds with an AM radio.

agree, but these sounds u mean are different to the ones discussed here. the frequency they picked up is just not the frequency of jupiter. anyway they took sound and yes, it has to be possible that sound travels in vacuum/space cause otherwise cell phones i.e. would be not possible.

i want to correct myself here cause i had a look and this is NOT true. instead their brain is much more bigger than ours. anyway they also use a lot more of it.
also the human brain seems to be more similar with a dolphin´s brain instead of a primates brain. there´s a small region in their brain, only found one more time in nature until now...... in our brain.

its not impossible but its not very supposable that some electromagnetic signals translated into analog-soundwaves with some instruments onboard the voyager and send back to earth communication sound like some well balanced recording of some more or less harmonic (obviously perfectly 440hz * x tuned) squarewave-layers with hell of reverb and some background-whitenoise.

most microwave radiation gets reflected by the atmosphere (very little leaves into space) ...
also it not travels as raw audio signal: since it's digital encoded, it's not modulated onto the carrier wave the same way like analog radio.
