"If you're interested in the early history of ROLAND, the Japanese manufacturer of electronic musical instruments and the TB-303 Bassline, you'll enjoy this 20-minute video. The TB-303 and its design are described in depth, and many examples of popular music made with the machine are presented.

Four stars instead of five for two reasons: There are long stretches of black screen with only narration, and the opening sentences read by the narrator are painfully academic, with the stultifying grammatical rigor of a doctoral thesis. The video gets pretty cool after that, though."

the replica's just dont cut it! especially virtual.

Has any body tried the "Technosaurus- Micron series?"
I keep send'n them emails about there gear but i get no reply, all i want to know is if they have free running oscilators and if you can sync them.
have a look for yourself they seem to be real promising 303 wear! and cheap too.

The Technosaurus- Micron is not really a 303 emulator. Infact, it sounds nothing like a 303! More like an SH101 if you have to compare it to another synth.

Free running oscs and sync? The mircon only has one osc plus one sub.

Oh and I've seen the video. Fun but with some errors. Ray Of Light doesnt have a 303 - its a Juno 106. Also Smack My Bitch Up doesnt have a 303 either and he also says the the TB303 has saw wave and sine wave...

hey AvS,

oops bit of messy post i did.

What I meant was, in either Micron 1 or 2, does it have the option of turing off the free-running Osc, so that it retirigs the Osc evrey time? or is it not free-running at all ?
thanks mate...

Yo Fugga

I understood you question and I thought that it would answer the question by saying what I said...I should have made it more clear!
I belive that it does NOT have a free-running Osc on/off feature because It only has one osc (makes alot more sense to have osc retriggering on a synth with more than one main osc) plus Its analog. I dont think that anyone would go through the struggle of making this feature on an analog because It's hard to do (Im guessing here) and it really goes aginst the whole point of an analog synth! Have you ever seen an analog without free running oscs? I havnt.
