A synchronicity is an unexpected event or coincident that comes about based on a previuos expierience/vision or as a resolution to an intractable psychological dilemmna. Its a mystical experience 
Its happened to Me on more than one ocasions,that I have thought of a person whom I havent met in a while(maybe years), and before this memory or thought is lost, Ive unexpectedly met that same person I thougth of!
Sometimes I think of a number, or even while uttering a word, Im surprised to notice that same number I thought of, or word/s I said, appear, on a passing bilboard, or in a news paper, maybe television set...
Another example would be You walk into a book store indecisive about what to buy, and you accidentally happen to touch the book that you really wanted.. like that book might fall from a shelf in front of you, or on your head or something.
Have You had simmilar experiences...?
So what has this got to do with trance music..? Nothing!! but its got something to do with Our life, and how We are all connected..

it happens 2 me so often that i quited the "coincidence"theory years ago

I am not arguing against the magic, but here are a few things to consider before you get carried away:
First, we tend to overlook the powerful reinforcement of coincidences. Non-coincidental events do not register in our memories with nearly the same intensity. Second, we fail to realize the extent to which highly improbable events occur daily to everyone.
For example, say the odds are a million to one that when a person has a dream of an airplane crash, there is an airplane crash the next day. With 6 billion people having an average of 250 dream themes each per night (Hines, 50), there should be about 1.5 million people a day who have dreams that seem clairvoyant.
Because the law of truly large numbers says that with a large enough sample many odd coincidences are likely to happen.

There aint no such a thing as coincidents.......
Aluxe: What are the odds for that the phone rings right after u thought of someone........3-6 times a day....?
The odds for it to happen twice in the same day is.... slim..........
the chances for it to happen 3 or more times a day are, 1: alot!
Coincidense....maby, ....but I dont think so....
The thing i feel is that the syncronicety has been moore often and intence the last 10-15 years. And I feel its appearing to remind me ALL the time that there is something moore to life than what meets the eye......
It keeps my flame of curiousety alive....and the egerness to exlore new and weird and wonderful things;-)

The percieved occurence of synchronicities increases with use of particular psychedelic and dissociative drugs...
The best example being ketamine...

Most of thesze experiences give me a rush of happiness along with something to ponder on!
but maybee what you say is true...
It is proposed that these apparently coincidental occurrences obey laws of psychodynamic causality and are therefore determined. Further that the principle subject associated with such occurances are those having to do with the devlopment of the self as it naturlly aspires to increasing expnsion of individual consciousnes, hence it can be related to drugs, as we're on a higher consciousness. It is concluded that meaninful coincidences or synchronicities as we cll them are the surface manifestations of our creative process accommodating the 'best' available resolution of a problem initially experienced as being trapped in a seeminly intractable psychologcal dilemma...
but then again.. all this is hardly acceptable in case of recurring coincidences, I have a freind who remembers his dreams, and a lot of times he has told me about a bad dream... and to my surprise he calls me two days later and tells me what he dreamt came true.. he even saw a shrink for this reason!
I feel its what we choose to believe..
and ofcoarse it occurs to everyone on a daily basis, its just that not everyone takes it that seriosly.. they'd probably tell a friend or 2 and ferget about it.. Nothing is said that has not been said before. |

You are gonna think i'm making this up but when i woke this morning i really fancied some baked beans... but i forgot about it. Anyway... and this is the weird bit... i was out today and i was in this supermarket and guess what they were selling? That's right... baked beans! So anyway... i bought some.
True story!

heh bon apetite Dawn, but be careful with beans.. they can be surprising if you know what i mean!
i have a quite different experience, but i think it also falls under the "synchronicity" umbrella. there's a friend of mine that whenever we talk (be it on the phone or MSN), there's AT LEAST one occurence that we say or type exactly the same thing at exactly the same moment.
at first i wasn't paying any attention, thinking that it must be some funny coincidence. but it keeps going on and on and it somehow makes me freaky.. so my question is, when does it stop being a coincidence? after 10, 20, 30, 100 times??
we even got used to it by now and we don't even wonder when it happens. instead, we have a laugh.. heh, at least it's enjoyable! 
btw, it only happens with this person. there have been other occasions that i said the same thing with someone else at the same time, but it only happened once (or twice maximum). so, i am sure coincidence is not the case here!

XrTC, maybe you ard your friend have brains that in some areas work the same way, and which have the same info (words). And these patterns maybe come up when you are in the same mindset or frequency of thought.
But anyways, by mathematical probability, amazing coincidences should happen often and some truly incredible ones in a big lapse of time. Because you are not specifiying where, how, what or when the coincidence should happen. Its like having the most enourmous card deck. Some cards are objects, some are thoughts, another is an hour a day or year, some are animals, some are numbers, some are names, etc. Anything in life can be like a card. So with such a huge card deck the odds of getting a poker of cards which you can associate together over a reasonable time frame is very high.
I russian woman was telling me that when she broke up with her boyfriend she was getting all these coincidences. Like she would be thinking of her boyfriend and suddenly she would bump into him at the theater in Moscow. She said, that can't be a coincidence. I said try for instance moving to Antartica , or even better take a trip to the moon and see how many times you bump into him there. If she bumps into him in the moon, well now that would be a hell of coincidence, I think even the most skeptical would agree. But most of the stuff people view as unexplainable coincidences are within the range of mathematical probability, in other words it would actually be odd if these did not occur.
And notice that we go all the time without noticing the thousands of NON-coincidences that happen all the time, we don't even register these. We only register and give meaning to the coincidences. I think this is what they call "selective thinking":
"the process whereby one selects out favorable evidence for remembrance and focus, while ignoring unfavorable evidence for a belief."
Now if somebody is clearly predicting the future in their dreams, well ok. What is there to argue about? Just make sure that he is not predicting vague and ambiguos things or things that have a fair chance of happening anyways.
Now don't get me wrong thinking I am on the skeptical side (The horror). These are just a few ideas to consider before you jump into conclusions. I think its helpful to at least have one foot on the ground and a bit of skepticism can help filter certain ideas that maybe don't make sense.
Plus we should be careful with the meaning we give to the coincidences so that we don't believe the first thought that comes to mind as if its a channeled message from heaven. Or is it which ever thought comes first even if its absolutely nonsensical?
Think of an animal that starts with the letter E.
Which one did you choose and why? Does it mean that you have some connection to the animal? I think it means I should buy and ride and elephant. |

one time i was on haight street near my house in san francisco. I was waiting for the bus for a long time. I met 2 russian tourists who offered to give me a ride. I was trying to get to Nikita (Penta's) birthday party in another part of town. In the car we started talking about psytrance and it turns out he had heard of Penta, and in fact his really good friend actually knew Penta from a party in NYC. The guys dropped me off and we parted ways. At Burning Man 2005, i was having the trip of a lifetime and dancing at sunrise. I'm looking over at this guy on the dancefloor next to me and he seems familiar. he asked if he might have given me a ride in SF about a year ago, and it all clicked! and guess who was playing as this reuninion happened?? PENTA!

I think that once u get more consious on the thing itself, it appears more and more often,...
so maby we are consiously creating our own reality.
If this is true, it shure opens up a few more aspects of life.....
And if u gyes havent seen "What the bleep do we know" films I urge u to get a hold of it.....they are just amazing!

But, I also agree with Alux in having your feet firmly on the ground, becase i think it is a very powerfull thing.
Once u start to discover the "coincidents" u start wondering what the hell it is....what it means,......and if a lot of it happens in a short time frame......it can be a mindblowing experience.......
I have had a few friends getting TO aware of the fenomena and start to see signs and messages everywhere....... to the point that it starts to get just plain stupid....
So i totaly agree with Alux, have some grounding.....dont fly to high....

i think reality is in front of you people and the synchronicities that you caught yourselfs looking at are just part of all synchronicities that are all around us but not yet preceived. i think human capabilities can be developed to increase the preception of these synchronicities and therfore become usefull to understand the "net" that connect us all
