Duuude!!! I'm going to be in San Diego for that weekend to see Nine Inch Nails play....for the second time....at Cox arena on Sunday night. I'm not even working at all on Saturday, so I'm so stoked for this party! What a pleasant surprise. Could I take a taxi to this party? How far away from the border is it? I've never been to a beach in Tj so that'd be cool if it was there.
I don't think that parties are conveniently thrown at me by coincidence. This is sounds like a fun one! |

DIRECTIONS TO PSYCHEDELIC GATHERING

Take the Ensenada Scenic Road, pass one toll booth, before you get to the next toll booth you will see a gas station and an AMPM exit there and keep going south 5 min, make a left at the traffic light (there is only one) go straight ahead and follow the signs!!
see map in http://www.5thelement.com.mx

And Bring you're camping gear!!

Surfers, looks like we've got a 4-6' NW swell hitting Baja this weekend. Perfect timing!
Anybody wanting to hook up and hit some point breaks with Ambrose and me on Saturday, let me know. I want to be across the border around dawn and most likely head straight to K38 first.
Surf all day, trance all night and surf the next day! Sounds like a dream

It was phat! Huge! Very well done. The 5th Element crew threw a first class party all the way around. The acts were so sick I'm still vibratin from it all. Ocelot and Audiopathik really blew everyone off the baja coast. The stage and decor was also very professionally done and the location was great.
And there was a great mix of psy peeps from both sides of the border.
Can't wait for their next one!

awesome fuckin party!!! it was SOOOOOO nice to hear rippin, hard, dark psytrance for the whole event. not a single note of cheese or butt-rock was played for 24 hours. fucking heaven!!
audiopathik rocking 150 bpm at sunrise was too perfect. very trippy stuff, not evil at all. just groovin, high energy psychedelia.
everybody played excellent, bodhi and i were very happy with the response of the dancefloor for our new tunes. i hope to do it again soon!

Last night I watched the video we took of the whole weekend. The clips were short but told of an awesome time. Here's some of them:
Dawn saturday morning, crossing the border
Pulling up to K38 seeing overhead lines marching in from the horizon
Las Salina, deserted expanse of beach. We're the only ones out, surfing till the tide slippes out
Ending up in Ensenada for dinner and visit of the Skate House
Stocking up on drinks and food at the AMPM
Taking the wrong road (as did everyone else, seemed like) then the right one, looking for the party
Pulling up to thumping dark psy amid fresh psychedelic decor
Bodhi, in the booth earlier than his scheduled time, fixing the sound and drawing the crowd
Numerous incoherrent clips of blacklit chaos throughout the night, stomping in the dirt and the ever approaching wall of fire and smoke
Ocelot, like a demented, knob twisting orchestrator of sonic psychosis, bringing in the first light
Morning. The dirt was dirtier than any dirt I've seen which added to the image of this dreary landscape
And the music: a perfect fit. The kind of morning music I really dig. Perfect after a night of twisted mind surfing
Who was playing? By the time I asked Bodhi who it was I was swept away again and never really heard his reply (now I learn it was Audiopathik.)
The heat filtered into the dawn air and it was time to hit the road again.
Hunting for and finding a pitching hollow reef break
Beautiful barreling offshore lefts with a backdrop of orange sky, as the fire burning the hills the past few days consumes the sky
The view from Tom Hidro's pad on the road home, and finally
The safe, orderly confines of our suburban home.
Exhaustion. Did we just wake from a dream? |
