PYC is right, exposing price list or just offer drugs publicly, should be forbidden.
|
|
No, I never said that, brate
I was there just last 3 days and if compared to the vibe of 2011, I can say this one was a little bit lower, probably due to police raid. But the big plus was Magic Garden area which was so much more trippy than in 2011... Music highlight for me was definitely Avalon.

This year was so much better than last year. No brutal waiting lines for everything, no yelling about selling the drugs everywhere all the time. I came there to party and have a good time, not eat every drug they offer me!
We arrived od Friday evening when the second raid was over and the festival was as good as 2010.
If you wanted drugs you had to look for them (and got them in less then half an hour with no problem).
The main stage was a bit less organic than last year, but still great. Music good as always, Juno Reactor <3. Vibe on the dance floor was as good as last year, but the dust was a problem.
Chill decorations and music was super! Pumpui tent also great music and cinema.
The best surprise was the upgraded magic garden area, Dragon's nest, Heaven, gallery, Goaum bridge. Just awesome! The money was spent well and all this bullshit about money grabbing organizers is a little stupid.
Do you people think those massive buildings out of wood with straw roofs are for free? It's a dying art so it's impossible to be cheap!
Also more showers this year, and more shops and food stals which is also great.
Most of the shops were closed during the raids, because they operate without paying taxes and that is their problem. Some shops are greedy as hell, 3e for some very salty chips of come on.
Ozora is still in a country and not a country of it's own. And the police is bound to check that out.
Some friend say, there were full of police on this year's Boom, why say it's organizers fault? What is wrong with some of you people, do you thing the organizers of ozora want to kill the festival with so much work put it to it?
The beer still costs 2e it could be 3e easily but it's not! Thank god!
Bottom line: vibe still superb! Place still growing and expanding. People still happy.
So they arrested about 50 drug dealers, so what?
There were too much of them in 2011 anyway, people too druged everywhere all week long, walking around fucked in the head and naked, children without parents (remember the lost child at the start of 2011?!)...
Non of this in 2012! Thank god!
But I'm only going to Ozora when there is Boom, because it's waaay to crowded when there isn't.
So see you again in 2014 or 2016.
One more thing, why didn't the sale of tickets start at 18h in friday for weekend tickets, what is the reason for waiting untill 19:45? |

This was my first time at Ozora and here are some of my experiences...
First of all, I had really good time at the festival. The people and the atmosphere was brilliant, lots of positive energy, smiles, crazy stunts, interesting arts and crafts and what not else. I met so many new, interesting and colorful people from all around, thank you everybody for contributing to this experience! Musically, it was not that great, but far far away from bad. Main floor was mostly oriented to faster psytrance sound with domination of UK artists. Being a progressive and chill fan, this was not really my area, but i had good fun everytime i was there. Highlights for me were Sensient, Perfect Stranger, KoxBox, Zen Mechanics and Killerwatts made a really special vibe on the floor. Tristan's closing was also very good, as always, but i felt he could land people down a bit at the end. I really didn't like Ace Ventura and Liquid Ace, those guys are such a fakers. Also Juno Reactor sounded bad, playing drums and guitars on top of studio tracks is not a good idea. Chill floor was weird because most of the time it wasn't really that chill. For me it wasn't a bad thing because i really like techno and other electronic genres, but at times i felt like chilling but the chill floor was banging. Solar Fields was perfect, maybe the best music at this Ozora. Also i really liked Minilogue, Gabriel Le Mar, Gaudi, Ishq, and some guy playing killer dubtechno on friday. I wasn't expecting to hear much other music than trance, so it was a real pleasant surprise for me. Also, absolutely worth a mention was Pumpui stage. Our camp was directly across so we heard the music coming from Pumpui at all times and there wasn't a single bad set. From what i heard, it's all local Hungarian dj's - good job guys! Cinema was also fun Pumpui rules I passed through and chilled at magic garden a few times too, there were some yoga lessons, lectures and shows, and really good music at the little stage where the gallery is. Last but not least, Dragon's Nest stage (which is new from this year i think), featured alternative bands and artists, mostly Hungarian i think, really innovative improvisational approach to music.
Infrastructure was good. Enough water, toilets and showers, i went during the afternoon and there was always free showers. Thanks for that. Food at the tavern was also good and affordable.
About the police... i was too busy dancing so i actually didn't even see them And about the bust, I'm actually kind of glad about it. Why the advertisements? You can ask anybody anyway... So the cops didn't really spoil my experience. Those arrogant Israeli guys did it. And with the flag on the floor... wtf? I came to Ozora to get away from nationalism of my country. So not cool.
Anyway, my overall impression is good. I'd not say it was sloppy work. I think it's more about massive popularization of the festival and the price it had to pay for it. I mean, you can't really have 20000 or so people at "private" property without problems with the police. Many stories are there about why happened what happened, but comparing to everyday life and absurd amount of laws we need to obey, a few cops are irrelevant in this picture. I am probably not going to go next year, not because i didn't like it this year, but rather because i like to go every time to some new festival. Ozora justified my expectations, and even a little more than i expected. Thank you, Ozorians! |

there is a bunch of grammar checking kids writing on this forum. Some posts i might contribute to the organisers themselves as well. I will not post anymore, after i issue this final warning to all those who understand what Ozora was about. If you dont like to mix halucinogens with paranoia and if you dont want to spend next 4 years in a hungarian jail cell you will use your intelligence to determine which of the above mentioned is true or not. There were a lot more cops than 3 - 4 dozens and it is pretty malicious to spread lies like that. You say they arrested only high rolling dealers, well i saw them arrest a 16 year old kid.
Wish you all to have good luck and to think with your brain, not with your heart and positivity. |

It's a chance they took to earn money and they all knew it's illegal to sell drugs in all Hungary and thinking the organizers paid off the police to not come to the festival is just absurd as is the idea that the organisers called them.
The main problem this year was the drought and dust. Dancing on green grass is so more nice than in the desert that was this year. |

This year was my second year at Ozora, overall I think I enjoyed it just as much this time as I did last year.
Some good points this year - Thankyou to the organisers!
Good lineup and sound quality - nice to see you have kept the Martin Audio rig on the main stage. After hearing both the Martin Audio rig at Ozora, and the Funktion 1 setup at Boom this year, I definitely prefer the Martin Audio one. At Boom, I often found it hurt my ears if I went into the front third to half of the dancefloor. At Ozora, I could dance 2-3 metres in front of the speaker stacks comfortably, hearing the sound from the bottom end of the line array clearly while the higher speakers threw the sound out to the rest of the dancefloor without deafening people near the front.
Dancing in front of that speaker stack is definitely an experience I would like to repeat.
Good work from the decor and visuals crews, the chill dome decor had me feeling like I was tripping during the warmup party (without taking any drugs), and the main stage decor and visuals was pretty impressive considering the setbacks caused by the freak windstorm on monday, the crews did a very good job getting as much done as they did.
Bigger, Better, Longer - The Pumpui warmup and afterparty
Improved setup at the tickets/wristband point - exit at the side so you don't have to push back past those waiting behind you to get back out.
-----------------------------------
A few things things that need some attention for next year - Organisers please read!
The toilets - last year there were solar lights in most of them, most of the time it was easy to find one that was relatively clean, but this year no lights - they were a complete disaster area after dark (I had a torch, but it was hard finding one where someone had not left something unpleasent all over the seat, floor or somewhere else. Please get the ones with lights next year!
Water points - there were actually less usable water points near the main dancefloor this year, I'm sure I remember 6 taps near the stage last year, only 5 this year and one of them did not work at times this year due to insufficient water pressure, and there were 3 near the labyrinth entrance last year, only 2 this year and one of them had no lever to turn it on and off easily.
Power management in the Pumpui, minimarket, info etc area - either needs a electricity supply upgrade or better management of power use to prevent the regular blackouts that affected this area.
Erosion in the sprinkler/mud area - the supply pipes are becoming exposed due to mud moving away down the hill. It needs the pipes burying a bit deeper as it is becoming a trip hazard for those in the mud area.
-----------------------------------
To those complaining about the police raid, even at the end of last year's festival I thought the drug dealing seemed a bit too open - It was stated on the website and in the festival programmes that drugs are illegal in Hungary (and at Ozora), and it is inevitable that there will be some form of undercover police presence at any large festival, when dealing is that blatently obvious (Large signs everywhere advertising various drugs) it is sure to attract unwanted attention.
While I think easy availability of drugs when you want them is a good thing at a festival (I occasionaly took them myself while I was there), being harassed by an entire army of drug pushers every time you walk down the main track (As I was on Tuesday and Wednesday nights this year) is not a desirable situation and that was also almost certainly a major part of the reason for the raid. |

Re: the cops - A Hungarian news channel came into the festival on the first day and secretly videoed people trying to sell them drugs and the signs etc, then gave that to the police forcing them to act; this is the reason the police came. To be honest it could have been a LOT worse and it seems what they did was mainly just to look like they were taking an interest so this same bullshit sensationalist media outlet didn't then turn on them instead. It's not really surprising though; a psy festival is not exempt from whatever stupid laws the country it is held in has, people got far too complacent at Ozora and having big signs saying "LSD 10 EURO" etc is really asking for trouble.
I found Ozora this year to be a great party, yes there were some slight issues but they also did a load of GREAT stuff, had a wonderful line-up, was much less crowded than last year but still with loads of amazing people, and they had really improved the site once again.
I think I'll go back next year if I can fit it in as well as Transahara and SUN, I felt no fear from the police; I even walked through what seemed to be their main staging area (up just past the magic garden/near the chambok house) and was not harassed at all. Afterwards the party continued and the vibe still seemed great for the remaining days and supply was not a problem, I talked to one dude with his dogs in a chai tent near the main stage and he said that they seemed to have removed "dark people", perhaps I agree with him if a lot of these people they took were drug mafia guys with guns in their vans and not the nice guy who sells his homegrown weed to spread the love?
Anyway thanks for Ozora 2012, look forward to seeing what happens in the future. |

I have been thinking about this; ginja while a lot of what you say is stupid you are right that there is going to be probably some quite real danger from the law next year (if it even happens, I can imagine maybe the organizers/security/landowner got in quite a lot of trouble) and I don't think I will go back; Part of the problem with this is that no one talks to each-other, everything is rumour and hearsay and the organizers never give any details to the people who are making the effort to come to the festival (like with the crew split).
Oh and also, how can you say the mainstage looked "quite poor"?
Out of all the spaceships I have journeyed in, this was one of the nicest!

It was the only real psychedelic gathering. Now from this year i think is completly dead. the police story was too bad.. after they arrived the vibe on the festival totally changed and it was not nice any more.
The music in chill out was disaster.. too much techno and house music.. if they had pumpui to play techno and house .. why they were playing it on the chill out too... it was suppose to be psychedelic gathering.. they play techno enuff in other festivals..
i think ozora is really dead.. may be now it will remain as any other comercial festival.. but the vibe is dead.. it is finshed.

i disagree with Astro-Traveller......for sure the police story was very bad, but i do not think they distroyed the vibe....of course during the action day many people were affected negatively, but the party did not stop and most people went to the main floor, where the organizer wisely decided not to have a music-break.....so is up to you to let your vibe be destroyed by them or not....react and be positive and the party was not stopped. For me and for all the people i personally know this Ozora was really great.
Musically for me the chill out had a very good program......some of the most psychedelic producer played a set.....like Mauxuam for example.
Of course Ozora is a huge gathering, cannot expect the musical program to be "underground" and again, also in main floor this year there was many good Lives and Dj for the dark hours........Kindzadza, Psykovski, Furious, Insector, Trippy Hippies,
the Hungarian Djs, Arjuna, Psymmetrix, Ajja, EVP, Atriohm, Para Halu...........
so, for me, has been a nice Ozora and the problems arrived coz some idiots started to sell drugs openly and with signs.....Hungary is not Holland and we are not in Christiania, so making a pusher street down the market is absolutly NO GOOD !!!! Who makes like that is irresponsable and for my sake can be send out of the festival. Without those idiots such police action would have not been happened....
Peace !

Openly selling drugs plays an important role in the whole vibe if you ask me, because it's all about the freedom.

well if that was true that would be quite sad.
for me however the freedom does not equal drugs (and def.not an open drug market of some kind) and as i gathered luckily im not alone with this view in ozora.
no doubt that some irresponsible idiots ruined some fun for a lot of us - ie indeed this raid wouldnt happen if they just wouldnt go over the line - but it definitely didnt 'kill the vibe' . in fact that vibe on the dancefloor on thursday afternoon i can only compare to samothraki dance festival in 2003 when in a similar situation everyone went to dance like there is no tomorrow
lot of people said that before me but THE VIBE is inside of you so its you who decide in the end.
it was my 5th ozora and definitely what i liked the most so far. loved the structures in and around magic garden, the stage for live bands was one of my favourites...also huge thanks for the lectures and yoga...cant wait to see more!

and why is that? we should behave, only because laws are alike? many laws are broken, my friend...
for me, ozora is first about the music, then about the freedom and even open drugs market fits into that picture. yeah i know i'm hardcore, but here's the world of peace, and there you have a world of war....
