As far as I could tell, that was the absolute perfect time to drop "Smack My Bitch Up".

Big thank you to 28th day and Freek factory for throwing down for New Years, despite the unfortunate circumstances. The time I spent there was awesome and I rang in the new year in a perfect way sorrounded by great people. The fireworks on the roof were a great and unexpected touch. I hope the organizers at least went home with some $$$ in thier pocket...that don't have to go to paying the fines. Illegal or not, the roof was HOKT UP and looked great, so did downstairs. My night was saved via Disorient and me and my friends made the best of the rest of the morning.
*The council meeting sounds like a good idea, who knows what is going to happen to NYC's trance scene-I'm afraid it might suffer the same fate as the rave scene.           "It's ALL about the clickety-clack!!!!"-Neuronympho

I peeped the the captain of the swine grab one of each of the flyers layin out on the table in Grandspace as he made his way out of the venue to go grill people and spread the fear and oppression vibe as they were leaving...

I guess this was their version of reconnaissance while they were on the "inside"...so just be careful, and pay attention everyone...who knows when and where they might """bless""" us with their presence again...Pigs are now hooked into the underground scene armed with enough info to do lots of damage over the next few months if they so choose

Many thanks 28th birthday and freekity deekity factorious for the wonderful concerted effort. I didnt personally really have enough time to catch much of a groove at this party but my night wound up perfect regardless...things happened exactly they way they needed to as usual

Especially thanks to disorient and all the lovely attendees, the after (truly)rocked(hard) and really made my night, free love woot woot!

Most of those flyers are for Grand Space events. The police better be careful themselves -- if they storm in and try to break up one of the gay orgies that goes on there, they'll have one hell of a discrimination lawsuit on their hands...

This event certainly had allot of potential. The effort put into the Deco as well as the lineup is very appreciated. The tent space upstairs looked great as well but unfortunately I have to agree with Bodhi and Arahat and say the DJ's were pretty bad. All of that aside it was extremely disappointing to travel to NYC for a new years party, with great expectations, and end up in Brooklyn with no place to go and nothing to do expect sit in a diner for 6 hours. I completely understand that it was not the organizers fault, but, the truth is Myself (and I am sure many others) spent allot of time, effort, and money to spend new years on the street, or in some hotel. Its great that 28th day gets great DJ's to come out, but having a planned second location, just in case, when charging people 65-85 dollars does not seem unreasonable, even if its just a shitty warehouse.

Again I do appreciate the effort put into organizing this party, but, I really had a terrible new years.

hi,

i would like to thank everyone who was at the party this new years, and the organizers to make all of this possible. i know how much energy and money you spend to make this party possible. i really had a blast spinning records again in nyc. too bad i was the only one who got to play a psytrance set before the police stoppet the whole show. it seems like the government stopped all of these underground events this night.

the party had huuuuuge potential to shape itself to a great one. anyways, i got some really amazing new friends from my trip to new york. really hope to get back there soon to play again.

huuuuuge smiles,

That was a great party and I can't wait to see what come out of this in the way of keeping the cops outta the picture in the future. As far as I can see 28th day did everything right from renting the tent and heating for the roof to hiring outside security. If bringing in the fire dept to shut us down on their second or third visit they were definatly reaching for excuses! I would like to go to the hearing but I'm not sure if it is monday the 14th or thursday the 17th??? Thanks again 28th day - gwyn

Happy New Year everyone!

Thank you 28th Day for putting yourselves out there and giving us the ideal environment to celebrate the new year!

The cops had arrived just before us and when they came again later on you knew there were just looking for any excuse...

I met friends whom I hadn't met in years! There was such good energy, everyone was smiling!

Everyone just wanted to have a good time with positive vibes and that was awesome!

Thank you everyone there for sharing their energy and those moments which we will always cherish.

Love & Respect

.. if there had been Psychedelic Chillout on the roof instead of drum n bass and house music maybe the night would have ended better... In fact, if they had a strict "Advance ticket sales only" policy, then you would completely avoid the overcrowding you know...?           "They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security"

I heard there was no alcohol allowed inside... for a NYE party this seems pretty wack. Anyone confirm this?           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

That is partially correct... there was no outside alcohol allowed, and the only alcohol inside the venue was champagne we served gratis at midnight. Is that wack? Well, the champagne we served at midnight was primarily responsible for the party being shutdown... 5 of the 6 tickets handed out by the cops were related to the presence of alcohol. Without the alcohol there is a good possibility the event wouldn't have gotten shut down. We served the champagne to avoid said wackness, and I now deeply regret that.
