Hey guys, I don&t know if someone has posted this novelty before. Or if it is old news. But I just have seen this complete mixing console for iPods, and I guess this is the beginning of the end of the CDJs. Oh, I saw this in Japan, so I do not know wheter it is available yet in other countries or not.
The console itself is very simple, with no BPM counter. There are two slots beside the normal controls you see in any mixer, and you insert the iPod upright, in an angle of perhaps 45 degrees.
I guess that it will be better understood when seen. So, here it is the Numark site where it can be visualised.
The price in Japan is around 280 US dollas, way too cheaper than most mixers you see here. Of course this price does not include the two iPods you will need to make it start playing.

Peace and Love, from Japan.

I have just received a call from a friend saying that it it has a serious problem, one that I did not notice. It does not have a pitch control, because Numark can not master this technology for iPods yet. But it is only a matter of time, I guess.

Peace and Love.

According to the booklet I got, you can use iPod, the mini and the iPod nano as well. It seems that the slot is universal. And actually there is a lot of people talking about it here in Japan - and there are some DJs using it with bpm-less tracks. The advantage of buying it, it is that you can manipulate videos that are stored in the iPod. Of course you will need other appliances to use other functions besides the basic ones. I have heard that other manufacturers will release other versions of this iPod Mixer, and I guess that when it will come with a speed control everybody, me included, will want to have one. As for now, I think it is more of a benchmark in the DJs world than an useful instrument.

Peace and Love.
