I've been looking for some time on that bundle too (I guess it's from Aage?) - I'm anxious to know too, what people think of the gear...

You are beautiful, no matter what they say! |

I personally abhor Newmark's products... I have used all of the gear that you guys mentioned and I did not like it, plus each item had something go wrong with it within the first year. My roomate had a set of cdj 100's (Which we got for 750US for the pair) for 4 years before they started skipping repeatedly on him.

STAY AWAY FROM NUMARK
its important that even beginners use equipment that is stable.
numark equip has been known to not keep the pitch accurate sometimes... and a beginner using this equipment will think that he/she is doing something wrong...
2nd hand pioneer CDjs will work better than Numark.
Denon actually makes very accurate equipment, though their CD players aren't CDJ type models, they are wrack models, (which actually give you more functions than CDJs) i.e loops, playing a loop backwards, memory, hot-start points,
some effects, and more....
I once bought Denon 2600F Dual CD wrack players, 2nd Hand, for $500. (I bought it from a store, they make sure that their second hand equip works properly)... and I was very happy with the product.

I agree with the NUMARK haters! Thier products suck ass!
Pioneers are the best way to go. Dennon are great too. But if you are looking for something that is cheaper than these two and better than Numark try:
http://www.americandj.com/product.asp?ProductIDNumber=1078&cat=DJ_Systems
this has a mixer and two players for 624.99 US$
The model I had they dont sell anymore, but I had those for a while. They worked like a charm. I was able to stay on beat with two tracks mixing for long periods. Very stable tracking in my opinion. And last but not least they are CHEAP!! It also had all the same features of the more expensive just not as elaborate. Who needs all that crap anyway. Just give me a pitch shift throw in a pitch bend - play/cue pause - Im a happy guy
Headphones:
I used the infamous sony headphones( you know the silver ones) I think mdr700? not sure. Great midrange bass response but a flaw in the design led to a crack where they swivled. Im sure anyone who has used the shit out of these like I did had the same problem.
SO NOW
I use Sennheiser's HD280PRO
http://www.sennheiserusa.com/newsite/productdetail.asp?transid=004974
These sound great and have up to 32 dB of ambient noise attenuation. Which is a good thing when your on a loud stage. The drivers are not as strong as the sonys but it makes up in other areas. AND they have user-replacable parts just incase.
Now these are not cheap but you DO NOT WANT TO BUY CHEAP HEADPHONES! I cant say that any louder because they dont have a super caps button in this keyboard. Your headphones can plug into other mixers that have better pre amps. your headphones should be able to handle ANY situation you may encounter that is if you buy good headphones. cheap headphones will not handle high decibles well and will sound like shit! pretty much...yeah shit. http://soundcloud.com/djkiva |
