hey!
i have the following pc:
AMD Athlon XP 2000
512 DDR (333)
Soltek SL-75FRN
ESI Waveterminal 192L
Win2000 Pro
i'm running nuendo 1.61 with the following vsts:
Halion 2.0 (6 samples: kick, c-hat, o-hat, snare, snare-rev, conga)
Tau Pro (+ Waves compressor, Eq, BassMaxx)
and a compressor & eq on the kick too.
and the cpu is at ~70%..
is this normal ???? anyone experienced anything similiar? i think that cubase sx 2 eats less cpu....
anyone can tell me his experience on Nuendo 2..? if it's better about performance, etc..
take care..

i've heard the newer one is actually slower and buggier... and 1.61 is great so i just stick with that til at least 2.2 or somethng
does the cpu stay at 70% or flicker erratically?
if it flickers, it could be denormal issues, i experienced this, and waves plugs are known culprits... if its solid...hmm... that does sound a little high, altho its hard to compare cos i haveno idea how much halion usually uses
for reference i have a 2.4GHz with 1GB ram, and to make the CPU hold steady at 70% i'd have to be running something like 2 z3ta, 1 vstation, 1 battery, 1 kontakt, 8 blood overdrive, 8 ohmboyz, 5 or 6 filtrators, 5 or 6 nuendochorus, 1 nuendoreverb, a few doubledelays, maybe the odd metaflanger or tc compressor in there too...

thx for all ur help solipt1c! and the "and waves plugs are known culprits..." hehe
i removed the send effects (6, all waves plugs) and i went from 85-90% to 30% .
damn now that i was getting to be a waves only user.. would you know a good substitute for delays and reverbs? that isnt so cpu intensive..
once again thanks for all your attention solipt1c!

for delay i just love the ohmboyz to bits... it can anything from very simple delays, to insane noisefuck madness. altho what i mostly use it for is beautiful dubby filtering panned delays which can turn any ultra-simple little noise into a sweet bubbling trancey texture or synth line... a bit of ohmboyz and reverb and i'm usually done
as for reverb, i donno, i'm still not really happy with any that i have. mostly i use 2 sends - the nuendoreverb for a big 'cathedral' room, and the ultrafunk reverb for a smaller 'drum' room - and thats OK. but i still feel i could find better.
